Default Awsome N/W Build

13 Blood Magic (9+3+1)
12 Axe
9 Soul Reaping (8+1)

Dismember
Cleave
Critical Chop
Vampiric Touch
Mark of Fury
Burst of Aggression
Plague Touch
Resurrection Signet

Okay this build is simple. Cast Mark of Fury on your target, usually a Monk or Mesmer. Then go up, hit Burst of Aggression, and spam Cleave, Critical chop and Dismember, it does really nice damage before Burst of Aggression takes it away. Then you can keep on hitting them. Vampiric Touch is for extra damage, and a heal. Also nice for going through Reversal of Fortune.

Try it and tell me what you think.

There are no awesome N/W builds. Stop trying to put melee weapons on necros.

This for PvP? If it is, then stop. A warrior does a better job killing than a N/W will. If PvE, go nuts with whatever set up.

Another meleemancer build...just put your flame retardant suit up.

I personally like the concept and it's probably fun to play with - unfortunately, the other posters are right in that there really isn't any advantage (and a host of disadvantages) that this build has in relation to a primary warrior's build.

Durin the test weekend when Dark fury was buffed, I had stupid fun as an N/W

Mark of fury + Berserker stance + On your knees = Backbreaker spam. It was fun, but just didn't really work out

I think I went up against a build like this in AB...I pwned the guy...big time and he hardly did any dmg to me. I was using a Necro blood build that heals(a little) and was enough for me to kill him without my health getting below 90%...just listen to Savio Necros shouldn't melee. I did for a while and thought it was cool...then I found alot of stronger builds that are for necros...leave the axes for the tanks and go and pick up your staff and pwn once more.

The N/W gets no love cause of too many noob builts.
I've made afew N/W that can perfectly go against 2 Warriors. Just that there are better builts out there to do the same job.

I do love the feeling when the warriors rush into the necro holding a sword just to end up dead. Cold weapon + flurry + shivers + faintheatedness does a good shut down job until they start kiting.

your built relies too much on warrior skills that you are better off being a warrior primary

I started a N/W a couple of days ago and love it. It's the first caster I've made that has lasted this long (level 11) without me giving up on it because I'm useless with casters. But I guess apart from the higher energy there's no real reason why he can't be a W/N (unless I'm missing something - I'm not one of those people who can automatically pick a reason why a build wouldn't work out of thin air).

I've seen a few good ones, but they were using the axe more for the use that they can get in there and touch. With a staff you often don't chase with hitting space... lol

I suggest to swap burst for frenzy and cleave for eviscerate

Yeah, Frenzy on a 60 armor frontline character is most definitely a good idea

How does this build work anyway? Burst of Agression last what, 5 seconds? That's not nearly enough time to both charge up Cleave and unload it, and especially Dismember. If it's not for charging up Adrenaline, what's it for? Unloading a weak 2-3 hit combo?

Mark of Fury adds one strike of adrenaline for every hit. This allows you to build up adrenaline even faster, and thus it is just enough time to charge up and unload cleave and dismember.

Necro Raiders are the only people I have seen with a decent N/W build.

Even then, the only purpose of their N/W was to have a source of deepwound.
