right. sooo i was standing in TA again, nobody on. i decided to make a new ranger build, trying to get away from the meta and hopefully find something useful besides Burning Arrow, Poison Arrow, Broad Head Arrow & Crippling Shot.

this was my result;

shortbows - vamp/zealous/ebon, youll want to be in close range so you can fire more.

sup WS, WS Head, minor marks/expertise, sup vigor.

options:
-taking another stance such as flail or natural stride
-grabbing a spirit, such as Favourable Winds, Natures Renewal (my TA team[s]), Quickening Zephyr (note, you will not need Serpents Quickness and have the option for another stance!)
-a trap, such as dust trap to protect your spirit. this would be absolutely needed if you went with Quickening Zephyr, because else the build is screwed.
-Needling Shot, Concussion Shot, Distracting/Savage Shot are also options in case something goes wrong. maybe Keen Arrow because it owns :P
-Throw Dirt

obvious counters;
-stance removal
-stances
-any sort of evading spells [Aegis, Guardian - in case you cant get to interrupt them]
-blind, to an extend, although you can take care off it yourself :>

simple to use, keep Serpents Quickness up, then use your Preparation right away, you should be able to keep it up constantly except for 1-2 seconds before each Prep, and the casting time, of course. use Pin Down, on your target, run close if its a caster, Degen/E Denial them a bit and just use normal attacks to keep it interrupted. for melee it works the same so its nice thing to use on assasins (messing up chains etc), or even getting lucky on shadow prison. use Troll as self heal, Touch when your crippled/blinded/weaknessed, or when someone else needs removal (dazed), or your monk diverted his condition removal.

right. opinions?

Needling Shot + Incendiary Arrows is extremely annoying. Look into it

yar, i tried it, its quite fun :P i think i pissed off some assasins with it. ._.

id most likely take it out for Pin Down, but its so nice for TA..either way.

the comments i received from my normal ta teams were that BA is still superior and that interrupting with that actually sucks. :\ so meh, any other comments?

(neither of them tested it to tho -.- just the usual incandiary arrows sucks comments)

i mean... your opinion of the build... not what others say...

because i still have the impression that that elite might be a little extreme...

Did this with two rangers in HA once. Cept we were both R/me and had mimicary to keep Incind arrows up the whole time. This was back when CG rangers were a big part of the metagame.

We owned so much more then CG rangers it was just sad. LoL @ nubs who only use cookie cutter meta-builds...they have no idea how many good builds their missing.

this is one idea out of the topic with experts dexterity...

having another friend ranger... how about bring arcane mimicry... and one with [wiki]Incendiary Arrows[/wiki] and the other with [wiki]Expert's Dexterity[/wiki]...

would this work?

Choking Gas rangers were used because of there complete ignorance of the condition 'blind' and Evade/Block where the prep would just hit anyway. That and it was AoE. Choking Gas had alot of advantages over Incendiary... the 2 i just mentioned and its use with Practiced Stance and Seeking Arrows.

Somehow i very much doubt you got anywhere with that build as Incendiary Arrows was an 8s duration, 24s recharge. Even with 2 on your bar it wouldn't be kept up permanently without SQ, which isn't an ideal choice for something like HA...

So atm, all i can think of is that your speaking bullshit... There was a very good reason for this cookie cutter build, it was better than anything Incendiary Arrows could do, now it actually has a duration worthy of an elite prep it can be useful.

Anshin. Both of those are Preperations so would just cancel each other.

It could be interesting to have a Ritualist on the team running Weapon of Quickening to lower its recharge without the need for SQ.

Apologies, i didn't see that bit with Needling Shot. But you really either need that on always rather than optional, or an IAS or your just not getting hte mileage out of Incendiary. Things can easily slip through a 2s refire.

rez,barbed trap,whirling,troll,apply pois,conj phant,lightnin reflexes,incend arr

i use a poison flatbow and vampiric shortbow

very effective when used in right order -can spread conditions fast and interupt

thought of this while waitin too play too
