I'm having a little trouble understanding the timing.

You cast Meteor Shower.
The you hit Bed of Coals.
Then you hit Lava Font.
Then you hit a snare (Whirlwind).

Isn't that a little bit late to be snaring them? And is Whirlwind even a snare at that point, or are they running away?

Or do I have the order wrong?

It's not Wintersday yet. It will be in a couple of weeks.

That's right.. just try it. Meteor shower knocks them down at first, they'll try attacking again and whirlwind will knock them down again. That will hold them, the inferno/flame burst (pick one) + lava font + burning will finish them off.

Awesome, that works beautifly, as long as I get the timing right(they stand up from a MS, take 1 step to try to run, get hit with whirlwind and inferno finishes them).........tried it on mino's.....the main problem I have is its hard to get them all on you at once. And even if I do, they seem to run sooner than the trolls, and I dont kill them all, theres usually about 3-4 left(mostly the ones that came in the latest). Any tips, or mods to the build you posted that could help with mino's?

Its like a PvE Promise nuker. very nice. (without the promise) When farming trolls there are usually 2 groups, the main in the middle courtyard and then the rest around a boss to the left and right. Do you wait for MS to recharge and go there too? or just zone and redue?

Zone + repeat. The boss won't die so easily, so the other groups are just 3 more trolls each... not worth waiting 60 + 30 seconds for MS to recharge.

I've been trying a variant on this idea, but it's not working for me at all ... but then, I didn't have the best of reflexes when I was a lot younger, and by that I mean when I played Space Invaders at a stand-up arcade console in a dormitory ...

Practice is definitely called for.

New and improved... drop out Whirlwind and use Frozen Burst.
More damage, and it holds them better, since half the time I use Whirlwind they're either already pinned from Meteor Shower or not attacking.

And for mwpeck and any other people who don't have Factions, this build works just fine:
Glyph of Sacrifice, Meteor Shower, Mark of Rodgort, Lava Font, Frozen Burst, Flame Burst, Armor of Mist, Mist Form

Yup, me and Tain have talked a good bit in-game and this build works great.....you might need to do some cleanup, but it does work. The only thing is its got a pretty high energy usage.

That's exactly what Armor of Mist is for

Use it if there's anything in the way while you're getting to the cave. Don't bother with it when you're fighting, Mist Form does all the work there, but GETTING there it's perfect.

being perfectly honest, I have acauly been running that build a few hours after making this thread lol =] great minds think alike but yeah credit to you

you said it first =]

my only difference is that im using 3 suprior runes for more dmg on the frozen burst

my attributes are like

16 fire
12 water
12 energy

although got to say its not that different on dmg from the orignal build i posted...

other tweaks i've used ....

Ugh.... such a good build, but such crappy routes. Trolls don't drop anything good anymore. I got a gold sheild but it was awful. I'm sure there's a better place to use this...

Hmmm, Brambles and EoE would add do it, but I think the casting time slows down the run overall and I wouldn't want to replace any of the skills on my bar with them. Same with Arc Echo. Meteor and Phoenix have longer cast times, wouldn't want to try them mid-fight. As it is, I think we have this as fast as it gets, at least for trolls. Speed boost, fast skill chain with fast cast spells with big damage. Very fast farm run, GG trolls... We need to find some new spots, and then we can find the best adaptation for that spot

woot i tried these build(s) against trolls and minos, and its so much fun!!! i agree adding frozen burst is a good idea. the toughest part about teh troll run is making sure the birds dont eat you.

now i've killed trolls with monk, war and ele, but only the ele one still works.
