Drops in chests
hi,
i runned several chestruns in the mirror of lyss and noticed that the drop depends on if its out the range of enemies or in the middle of a enemie group
is it just me or can anyone else confirm this?
btw im posting printscreens to show it.
note the chest location.
and now again note the chest location
if anyone could prove this is wrong please post screens of both when you got a purple one and a gold one
NOTE:dont know about this in areas like FoW UW DoA urgoz and the deep chests
NOTE:didnt know here to post this(there are no chestrunning forum but there should be one

Pure coincidence imo... I dont chestrun that much. But I remember the chest weekend in Cantha quite well, Getting purples while getting mauled by 3 shiro'ken mobs aint that funny... But hey, everyone needs their superstition...

Have to say did 50 chests last night and it does seem like the more monsters around it the better the drop, prob is coincedence though.
one thing that is certain with the vabbi chest run is that the cehsts only spawn where the monsters do.
And rebel why get mauled? use the assasin set you click on out of aggro range then you walk in with shadow (no spells or weapons can hurt you for 17 secs) open chest pick up use stance and teleport back to where you started instantly loosing aggro! give it a go great fun.

its been well knowen that if there r mobs around ur chest ur morelikly to get a better drop, liek if murrsat r around a darkstone chest urve got an aditiona 1/100 more chance of gettign a gold mursat skined weapon. but it is more luck with the purple

he means that when you open a chest near a certain enemy, the chest will have an increased drop rate of that monsters weapon(mursaat hammer drop at a chest near mursaats),but thats not what the Op meant

Ive been chest running since Factions first came out. Like when Raisu palace was THE place to chest run. Anyway, IMHO chest out in the open are 90% of the time going to be purple. I ususally leave them alone. If you dont believe me just wait. The more you open the more you will see purple. Groups do affect the chest drop. Like if the group are all elementals then look out for an ele wand, staff etc. An example of this may be the round rolling bug things in Mirror of Lyss.
Also, I have found that bosses also affect the drop. I like to kill the mob and just leave the boss for last. If the drop is gold it usually always belongs to the class that the boss is. Also, I find its got a higher chance of being a good drop ie max & low req.

My personal experience is the above thoughts are pretty much spot on:
Mobs around the chest affect what type of item comes out of the chest.
*The number of mobs around the chest seem to really increase the chance of it being gold (vs purple).
*NOTE: This is my opinion and is not backed up by data collection, etc. I'm sure I'm going to get roasted for even posting this "non-sense", but the insane amount of gold drops from crappy Kournan Chests has me thinking this could be true.

so what you guys are saying is that chests are worth opening before you kill the mobs around them?
sounds pretty weird and probably hard to test but blah...

ive noticed this in the past as well. When certain enemies were near id get something that drops from them. Like when im by a oni i get oni armor and oni daggers and sh*t like that. Same with other monsters.

My friend and I run it all the time. I'm tier 4 treasure hunter. It's just completely random. Chests by the mokeles tend to drop nice things though.

and assuming it actually works that way, does it also work with corpses of monsters or only before you kill them?
