Default A Guide To 55Hp Farming of Tyria and Underworld with Video's

A Guide To 55Hp Farming of Underworld andTyria

I know many others have covered this over a period of time, but I felt the need to put this Post together.

I would like to give thanks to certain players who have helped me become a reasonable farmer.
CERB. TSUNAMI RAIN.
And many others who have posted on GW Guru.

Special Thanks goes to 3 players who bore with me while trying the UW.
Evo Noodens, The Herbalizer and Sarille Doomsworth.

This Guide is based on the Mo/W but as you will see later some places require a Different Secondary Profession.

ARMOUR

I use Droks Ascetic's Armor Star Pattern armour for my monk, mainly coz I am too tight to pay for Grotto or FOW.
However it is a good idea to buy when you can afford it 2 full sets of Infused Armour Plus 4 Head Scare Patterns, for the + 1 Bonus’s.
The Reason for 2 sets is quite simple, one for 55hp one for normal play.

ATTRIBUTES

200 Attrib’s is a good idea so both 15 Attribute quests need to be completed.
The First 15 Point one is in the Desert

First Quest "The Forgotton Ones"

Speak to Annelle Fipps in Destiny's Gorge she will tell you to find Sariss Yassith in Skyward Reach.

From Destiny's Gorge, leave the western exit and go south through the centaurs. Jump through the teleporter to easily reach Sariss.

He will then give you the next quest. Forgotton Wisdom

Seek out Siliss Yassith in the Arid Sea.

You'll notice that Siliss is on a mountain, but you cannot reach him directly. You'll have to go up the hill to the east of it and cross a fallen statue to get across.

The 2nd Set of 15 Attrib's can be obtained from completing 2 quests from Vanyi in Droks.

Quest 1

Hero's Journey

Visit or revisit the outposts of Destiny's Gorge, Hero's Audience, and Seeker's Passage in the Crystal Desert.

The Hero's Challange

Note that you must do Vanyi's The Hero's Journey quest before doing this one. You also must do at least one of the corresponding The X's Path quests in the Crystal Desert before Vanyi will give you this quest.

Enter the Frozen Forest from the Copperhammer Mines
Follow Sanyi through the mountains.
Defeat Sanyi the Soul Eater.
Return to Vanyi for your reward.

WEAPONS

This is my prefered choice of weapon set however you may wish to vary these.
It is a good idea to Customise your weopons to gain the extra 20%
Damage..

Weapon Set 1

Weapon Set 2

Weapon Set 3

Weapon Set 4

Skill Sets For Certain Areas

There are numerous skill sets you can use to suit your own game play however there are 2 ELITES you will need

1, SHIELD OF JUDGEMENT

Can be obtained from the boss "Myd Springclaw" in Mineral Springs, he can spawn in any of the following locations.

2, SPELL BREAKER

Can be obtained from the Boss Raptorhawk in Snake Dance in can spawn in any one of 3 locations.

These are just examples of skill sets that work well however as you will see
my video's show some different ones as well ....

Attributes

Healing: 13 Smiting: 10 Protection: 13 Divine: 13

This is my Favorite

Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Spell Breaker, Bonetti's Defence, Defensive Stance, Watchful Spirit, Essence Bond, Mending

Attributes

Healing =14 Smiting =4 Protection =13 Divine =13

As you can see from the map I have placed the locations of most Mobs in this part of the Underworld. Remember the Monks job here is to TANK and Kill the Dying Nightmares.
When You enter the Underworld put up your main 3 enchant's Watchful Spirit, Essence Bond and Mending.

Before Moving anywhere not already covered in Underworld, put up Spell Breaker just in case a Nightmare Pops.

Locations 1-4 this is where you deal with the first 4 groups of Attaxe.
Once they are dead head for Location 5.
Your Necro should head for the the "Lost Soul" When you are Ready tell him and he will speak to the Lost Soul. This will make the Grasping Darkness spawn, aggro one set ( near Loc 1) and head back towards other group behind you (near Loc 2). Once these are dead move towards location 6 for another 3 Darkness's.
Location 7 Contains Aataxe, Nightmares and 2 or 3 Darkness's just remember Spell Breaker.
Location 8 contains the final group of Aataxe or if you have been lucky they were killed at location 7.
Location 9 is the first group of Smites. Try to move so that all are attacking you as this helps the Necro kill them.
Locations 10 and 11 can be done two ways either pull the Smites first back towrds Loc 9 or you can do the Coldfires first they are a roaming group watch their patrol route.
The remaining Locations are all places where you can pull either the smites or Coldfires to. Just be careful remember Spell Breaker on the Coldfires and try and draw them out of their wells.

There is a video below which may help!!!!

Good Luck

I have a few comments on your guide.

Ettin Rune farming
Ettin Rune farming is nerfed. Ettins no longer drop anything. runes are very nered.

Griffen farming

Where? Outside dunes of despair?

Wurms Farming For Bleached Shells in Dunes of Despair

The wurms in dunes of despair or the sand wurms outside?
Your build doesn't work on the ones out side it. They will constantly go back under knocking you down. And the siege wurms in the mission just aren't worth farming all together.

Hydra Farming

You don't need to use Zealots and essence bond. Trade in blessed aura and Balthazar's spirit for them.

Talus Chute Ice Imps

Why balenced? They don't knock you down. They interupt you with malestrom. Also you don't to much need holy veil. I do it easily without them.

Underworld

whats defensive stance for? Its not really needed. With at least 3 creatures on you Bontetti's recharges fast. Also use blessed aura and balthazars spirit instead of Watchful and essence. Balthazars spirit is better than essence bond because it gives adrenaline to.

Also these some information your lacking about farming in some of those area's. You don't tell how to do it. You espicially need to tell how to farm UW. Just add more information to your area's you can farm section. Some of these places I almost couldn't tell where you ment.

So just add a little more info and it'll be fine. Keep up the good work.

Looks like a good guide to me.

And Gilburt: Even thought ettins are nerfed, it's still good training for a 55 monk to farm them, as I believe Aragorn pointed out.

A couple things I'd like to note..
1. Bonnetti's Defence isn't really needed.
My current build -
Protsp, Hbreeze, Zealots, Soj, Balanced, Mending, Balthazar's, Essence Bond
or
Replace Zf and EB with Blessed Aura and blessed sig. They may not be the best builds, but I still don't think Bonnetti's is needed.

And..
http://img62.imageshack.us/my.php?image=algkjag1fx.jpg
You can clear all of the hydras if you want. Not a short run though. :P

PS - Nice guide.

yes, in your build. In the build he gave to get energy with only one energy enchantment you need bonnetti's. Also an Sj blessed aura build you don't need to worry about scattering, so you can aggro alot and spam skills for the divine favor heal without worrying about them scatering.

No matter what you go against with a 55hp monk, they still deal 5 damage to you. There is no differance between learning to 55hp farm on hydras, or learning to 55hp famr on ettins. Either way its exactly the same.

Great guide! Love the maps and detailed explanations of attributes.

I personally don't have a monk yet, but i know for sure that with my necro, 55 farming trolls is definitely not the same as farming hydras, avicara, or FoW. The point being each foe has their own way of hindering your efforts. I farm a little differently according to whether the foe has knockdowns, interrupts, or even the dreaded enchantment stripping.

There is IMO a subtle difference between learning on Ettins to Hydras, Ettins normally in groups of 3 have a healing Signet which you can practise your timing on for interupting etc, they also have a knock down but do not do as much damage as Hydras so you can practise timing again without fear of dying every time
On the other hand Hydras can knock you down during the first clinches of an attack which can put paid to that run. Especially when you are going for 8 +

(I know the max damage is 5 per hit but 3 x 5 = 15 hp loss with Ettins but 8 + hydras =5 x 8 = 40 hp closer to death)

Why are you using Balanced Stance on minos. They haven`t got any skills knockdowning you.
Also as i can see the route is too long. When I`m using my N/Mo to farm here, I`m going down the hill (taking that 2 from top) to the big group of minotaurs aggroing most of them and killing them. Its about 10-14 minos at run (some "patrol cows" are joining the fight later). It takes (with loot taking) 1:30-2min. Going further gives only about 3-5 more minos, and farm will take about 3:30 to even 5 min, so better idea is just to restart mission rather than killing all minos.
