Bad sin players play with SP/BoA and go up against a monk or warrior first, doesn't work like that.
SPBoA should target characters such as mesmers and necros first, they can kill you quickly with anti melee hexes. Then elementalists, then monks, assassins, and others. A good SPBoA sin should also know when to back off, if you see a hex come on you and you start taking loads of damage, get out of the fight before you kill yourself.
And yes, flurry is probably the best DPS IAS for any assassin. only sacrifices about 2-3 damage. BoA is best for spiking though.

Yeah, tru dat. 5 energy every 5 seconds would be tough to manage even with zealous, especially considering all the other energy upkeep of your other skills.
I was looking through the available IAS skills, and I think two in the ranger line are pretty good, with EXCELLENT recharges, Bestial and Tiger's Fury. 10 energy with a 10 second recharge, but even with only 4 points in BM, you get 7 seconds duration out of it. And the skill disables only non-attack skills, which in many cases, is less than 1/3rd of a sin's skill bar lol.
But compared to the Warrior IAS skills, like Frenzy and Flurry, there really is no comparison, especially seeing as how those two ranger skills are 25% IAS only. And looking at the IAS skills available, almost ALL of the useful ones to a sin are in other classes' primary attributes. What's odd is that BOTH of the new Nightfall classes each have two IAS skills, whereas the Assassin is STILL the only melee class with no inherent IAS skill.
Ah well, I've started to get used to playing non-IAS sins again, especially now that my Sin has made it through the prophecies campaign and has access to some juicy Elites (Fevered Dreams hehe). Hopefully when the NEXT expansion comes out, or perhaps in an update, ANet will finally give the sin its own IAS, but I doubt it.

actually, ALL of the IAS of ANY kind are in other professions. Assassins are the only physical damage profession without one...

Why the hell use Locust's Fury if our objective is to get as much attack skills of in a short timeframe?

i guess double striking is only when auto attacking?
oh well, I tried whirling charge last night in ab, trying different enchants to go with it. ...it works ok... but it has a high cost and I found that enchants are pretty pitiful when compared to the hex line.

yea Locusts is only good in conjure builds or rit weapon builds, but even then its not that much DPS. Its good for killin doppleganger though since he doesnt use daggers

Psssh, Doppleganger is so easy as a Sin primary or Sin secondary.
Equip two skills:
Shadow Form at leftmost position
Expunge Enchantments right next to it.
Auto attack the doppleganger, let him cast shadow form, then cast Expunge Enchantments, then kill him with auto attacks. I think I killed my Dopple in about 6 seconds lol.
Oh, and clawofcrimson, I meant that most of the real useful IAS apart from Flurry/Frenzy are in other classes' primary attributes. An IAS with 20 second recharge, 10 energy activation, AND being conditional on being enchanted is IMHO not a good skill for a sin, since they are primary targets for enchant stripping (after Dervish/Monk) due to many combos requiring being enchanted or skills like AoD being stripped takes the sin away from his target for a short while.
I hope in the next expansion ANet really considers adding at LEAST one IAS skill to the Critical Strikes line, either as a stance or just a "skill" like Critical Eye. Or add IAS to one or two existing skills, such as Locust's Fury (IAS for combo users, Double Striking AND IAS for auto-attackers) to give the sin some choices for a critical melee component without having to go outside to ANOTHER melee class. Basically, a sin should be able to do what he does, have access to IAS, and use a spellcasting profession as a secondary, just like a warrior, dervish, paragon and even ranger already can.

an IAS "skill" would be overpowered I think lol.
Skill IAS would stack with Stance IAS for like... super fast attacks.
AND with double strikes? Id never take conjure flame off my skillbar xD
but yea, assassins are actually very limited in what they can do right now x_X I find alot of ways to use them effectively, but not nearly as much as other professions. I still love em tho

TBH, I usually never use an IAS on my Assassin in PvE. I usually just go A/Mo for Mending Touch and a hard resurrection skill. A skill IAS in Critical Strikes doesn't seem like a bad idea. I'll tell you why. For example:
Steel Speed
5 energy
instant cast
10 second recharge
For 3|4|4|5|5|6|6|7|7|8|8|9|10|11|11|12 seconds, you attack 33% faster while wielding daggers.
This way, only Assassins would be able to use it because it is in the Critical Strikes line. Of course, some people would bring this and, say, Frenzy, but I would imagine that most players are smart enough to NOT carry 2 IAS skills on their bars. This will improve the Assassin in both PvP and PvE. Most Assassins have either 8 or 13 Critical Strikes, which make Steel Speed last 7 and 10 seconds respectively. I guess it would work xD...
