Default Necromancy Question: Is having lower health really a good thing?

It seems that some people think that having lower health as a Necromancer with health sacrifice is a good thing. However, it appears to me that this is not true:

-They argue that if you, for example, sacrifice 10% health with 250 max life, you only lose 25 health. Sacrificing 10% health with 500 life will make you lose 50 health.

-However, this doesn't matter. The first necro now has 225 health, while the second has 450. The second necromancer is better off.

-Monks have to do more healing on necromancers who sacrifice massive health. However, this once again doesn't matter. Even though on the second Necro the monk must recover 50 health, the necromancer already has a substantial amount of health more than the first.

-If you are, in the example, below 50 health, the second necromancer will die if he sacrifices. The first may not. However, in order to get the second under 50 health, 450 damage would need to be applied to him. That would kill the first necromancer.

Unless I'm missing something, these people I talked to who told me Necromancers are better with low health when sacrificing are incorrect. Am I right?

If they are using Aura Of The Lich, then no you are wrong. AotL halves health and reduces ALL damage by half (that includes health sac.). So if they just use sup runes to reduce health I would have to say you are right, if they are using AotL then I would have to say you are wrong.

Yes, I am not talking about AotL but about Superior Runes.

Saccer with very low health can cover sca cost of pretty much anything with Vigorous spirit or aura of restoration (and little health regen from, i.e. blood renewall) and be under prot spirit to counter any non-sacifice damage.

Of course, there are two types of saccers.

1) Frontline - it MM or Dark/contagnition bomber - theese are better of with high max health.

2) backline - Order/Bip. theese can pretty afford running 55hp build (and will ropably be loved for doing that by monks as they would be able to chaincast BiP/Order while requiring next to no healing)

You see, its all about where and how you sac.

But generally, if necro who is saccing often gets DP its no biggie and it in fact helps monks a bit.

PvP or PvE?

In PvE you can easily take advantage of monster AI, put prot spirit on the necro and have him with low health.

In PvP, the higher your max health the better.

Its a balance that you want if you sac high hp. It's easier to recover from lower max health sacs, but it's easier to heal someone taking normal dmg when they have high max hp.

This belongs in the necro forum, however:

You are missing some very important aspecs of this.

Most of the time when a necro uses lower health (not counting the 1hp necro) it's because they need to spam some sort of health sacrificing spell, such as bip/br. Usually when doing this, the necro is using a N/Mo build. What this does is, not only do the sacrifices not take off very much, but the necro is also useing prot spirit, which makes max damage taken only 10% (meaning that with 105hp, you're only taking 10ish damage, no matter what you get hit with). The reason why this is so nice, is that you can stack on healing regen spells such as mending and healing breeze to counter this tiny amount of damage you're taking very easily. If you're only taking 10 damage, and you have 10+ health regeneration the whole time you're taking damage, then you can maintain your own health while still being able to spam your sacrificing spells.

You're basically acting as a 55hp monk tank, just slightly less effective, with the ability to use the very nice necro sac'ing spells.

Using the 1hp build, mostly used in DoA, you can spam any sacrificing spell with it taking away NO health. But useing this, you will die if you get hit.

Personally i dont care much about my health being high when using my necro cause hes mainly just an MM, sorta brings up the argument of which green is better Ghials or Nightbringer. I like Ghials better cause i can raise higher lv'ed minions with a percentage of course, maybe before the minion nerf with factions the nightbringer would have been a more superior weapon while you cared about how high your health was.
