PvE Barrage Build
hey guys i am just looking for some feedback on this build i sorta put together with some inspiration from pvp barrage builds
Barrage (E)
Tiger's Fury
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Favorable Winds
Predatory Season
Winnowing
Charm Animal
ok for the attributes i havent really thot it all out yet but i was thinkin...
Marksmanship: 12+1+3
Beast Mastery: Enough for Predatory Season to last longer than recharge. +1
Wilderness Survival: Enough for Winnowing to last longer than recharge. +1
Expertise: The rest! +1
Keep in mind this is just a simple pve build and with the spirits it can do a bare minimum of about 30 dmg because of 6(FW)+4(W)+5(PS)+^15(Barrage).
For a weapon it can really be anything but the bow i have would work perfectly: Max Vampiric Shortbow of Max Fortitude with dmg +15%^50
For the runes you should have a Marks mask with super marks on it(4)
and minor runes for the other attributes cuz there's no health penalty! also have a major or super vigor if you want but its not required
Lastly, this is a R/X build so you can switch skills as you need, maybe add in judge's insight if ur a R/Mo
Ty, any feedback helps negative or positive!

1. Pred. Season is not vamp meaning no extra dmg also it hurts healing from monks.
2. Your atts are so spread out it makes the build hardly effective.
3. You have no interrupts.
4. By the time you set spirits up most the badies will be dead
Stick to something simple. Barrage, two interrupts, spirit, defensive skill (wd, throw dirt...) if you want a pet charm/comfert, and a rez
max out marks/expertise hardly any need for beast.

a pve build i just threw together, not meant for heavy farming just a fun build to tink around with, not for pvp at all so y bother with interupts or rez. also i only spread out the points to have enough for the spirits to last longer than there recharge which doesnt require that much, winnowing and pred season are just as effective at lvl 1 than lvl 16 because they always do +4 dmg and +5 health on hit, all that changes is the lvl of the spirit and how long it lasts and as i stated above u dont need very many points to make it last longer than recharge, troll unguent and whirling defense are just incase you get into some trouble if barrage+pred season isnt healing you enough. i just have a pet to take some dmg off of me its not meant for killing a lot of stuff and i didnt want to waste a space with comfort animal because you life is more important than ur pet's in this build. Switch Tiger's Fury with Lightning Reflexes/Throw Dirt
ill change the attribute point to this then:
Marksmanship: 12+1+3
Expertise: 11+1
Beast Mastery: 4+1 (Predatory Season lasts 70 secs)
Wilderness Survival: 5+1 ( Winnowing last 78 secs)

All i'm saying is three spirits thats alot of time to waste on casting.
Pred = 5sec
Winnow = 5sec
FW = 5sec
thats 15sec of no dmg out put. you will do more dmg if you just cast FW and have more points in marks. just alternate using barrage/savage, barrage, barrage/savage. I use con. shot as my second interrupt just to take out casters. As for a pet they can do wonders if used right. They can take a ton of dmg before dieing. You asked for feedback i gave it to you. I still say keep it simple. If you want a quick easy and effective build stick to what I said before. If your in a team then each member can take a different spirit.

Agree with Daky, although I take Beastmastery to 4 to get 7 seconds of Tigers Fury.

Yes my beast is at 4 due to minor rune and enough remaining points left over. I also run a dual sup so my marks is at 16, expertise 15, beast 4. health is at 410 a +30bow grip is a must . you will do more dmg by keeping it simple.

ok new plan
Barrage
Savage shot
Whirling Defense
Favorable Winds
Troll Unguent
Charm Animal
Lightning Reflexes
Throw Dirt/ Concussion Shot (Depends if more melee or casters)
Marksmanship: 12+1+3
Expertise: 12+3
Wilderness Survival: 3+1 (Gives 5 regen with Troll Unguent)
Beast Mastery: 0+1
Sundering Storm Bow of Fortitude
15-28(w/e max is) req.9 marks
dmg+14%^50
20/20 sundering
+30 hp
Vampiric Shortbow of Fortitude
15-28 req.9 marks
dmg+15%^50
5:1 vamp
+30 hp
(+30 got it covered )
i have minor runes on my 15k studded but ill change the minor expertise to superior, ill also buy some forge druids if i wind up needing more energy but i doubt it with 15 expertise, barrage only costs 2 with 15 right?
i took ur guys' advice but this one focuses more on wilderness instead of beast cuz im really only going to have a pet to take some heat off of myself. and i know this sounds dumb cuz i would probly bring comfort animal if i want a pet tank but hearty pets are tough nuts to crack even with no healing skills for it
oh yea, i also have a major vigor currently for more health but ill probly switch to superior since they are pretty cheap compared to a couple months ago
whew, ty for ur guys' help im just trying out a new build that ill use on missions and stuff

may i also suggest a zealous weapon if you got 13 in expertise (being lowest i would go) barrage only cost two energy if your hitting two guys you get your energy back in full. if your hitting more well thats just an added bonus

You really only need 9 expertise for a basic barrage build like the one he described. Anything more than that is rather wasteful imo, unless you want the stats in expertise for the benefit of the attributed skills.
Btw, Jago, the second build looks much better. Tiger's fury is very energy heavy with Barrage and is generally suited best for short battles. What you have looks good. If you really want a spirit, bring fav winds. Anything else could really mess with your team unless they are prepared for it.

the reason i took dakys' advice for a large expertise is because it will make whirling defense last a long time and also, it makes concussion much more usable, costs 9 or 10 energy with 15 expertise i cant remember which, and also for lightning reflexes but im still debating if i will use it or not, the time/recharge ratio is just too big a margin

You have Throw Dirt, Whirling Defense and Lightning Reflexes in your second build, I'm not against having two of those, but I don't think I'd bring all three.
I'd also try the build without bringing Troll ungent once or twice. I've found that I don't neccesarily need it as much as people put it in there bars. It's not a bad skill or a bad choice (self heal - ftw!), but you might find you'll enjoy the space much more.
I'd also tweak your attributes a bit. The Expertise Guide here at GwG shows where the break points are. At 13 expertise Barrage only costs 2 energy, but you'll notice that at 15 expertise, it still costs 2 energy. At 14 expertise, 10 energy skills only cost 4 energy, at 15, there is no difference. So I would bump your expertise down to 13, as you'll mostly be using Barrage.
Other than that, the second is a very large improvement on the first!

ok so instead of having throw dirt or concussion shot ill just use c. shot all the time and i think ill try something different than troll unguent but im definetly going to bring it when i solo which is quite often. so if i drop expertise down a couple points i could put those into more wilderness survival for more troll right?
or i could just use minor expertise instead of superior which would aslo do the trick and get me a higher base health, what do u guys think?

If this is for PvE:
1/ You have no rez for your teammates!
2/ You have no rez for you pet!
3/ Spirits are important if you play with other rangers - if you do, you don't have to carry 3 spirits, let them take one ; if you don't, consider bringing other sills
4/ Predatory Season... pardon?
5/ No interupt
And concussion shot costs 25 energy, this is not a spammable skill

Predatory Season, linked to Beastmastery, only lives 38 seconds @BM=1 ... Can work nicely with Barrage ...
But, is Barrage at all usefull in PvP?
Edit: Misread your post, it is for PvE
Expertise @9 or @13, these are breakpoints for 5E skills.
Look at secondary for additional damage, Ele for a Conjure, Monk for Judge's Insight or Rt for Brutal Weapon. What is your secondary?

next time read the whole thing before you insult the build
i said i solo often with this build, no need for rez, as for the pet, im not gonna waste a space to rez it or soemthing and my beast mastery is too low to have an effective pet, its just there to take some heat off of me, hearty pets take a long time to get killed. as daky said earlier 3 spirits is waste which i wholeheartedly agree. and i actually have 2 interupts, savage shot, concussion shot, although concussion shot only interupts spells thats mainly what i am going to be interupting, also with con. shot, its cost is reduced to 12 with 13 expertise, 10 if i decide to use 15 expertise, con. shot isnt spammable because of a 10 second recharge, not energy cost

sometimes i like to go back and see how many missins i can solo and also i enjoy just going out and killing stuff when im bored cuz i make plenty of money just doing desert runs, or i am in a good group of guildies where i dont need to bring rez and you guys can flame me all you want about that but most of them time i have no need for rez (excluding pvp and tough missions of course)
