Suggestion:

Drop Explosive Growth and get Verata's Sacrifice (if you can).

It doesn't appear that you have all 200 attribute points. Increase Death Magic to 12.

Otherwise its fine.

My Rit/N MM (non-bomber):

Spawning: 12 (+ scar + runes)
Death Magic: 12
Restoration: 3

Animate Flesh Golem (e)
Animete Bone Minion
Animate Bone Fiend
Boon of Creation
Death Nova
Blood of the Master
Generous Was Tsungrai
Flesh of My Flesh

sawn I have not paid one bit of attention to my critter health.
blood of the master I might just switch to.
I want to make a bunch of them and blow them up LOL
but you might be on to something better.

Pick Me I have been doing the bomber build and have
2 problems I guess its my play style

1) a hard time targeting minions that are about to die for nova
2) keeping them alive between groups of mobs

your 2 spells I have not used
Blood of the Master
Generous Was Tsungrai

what do these do to help your build over explosive growth and Rotting Flesh
which I have in their place right now...
I always start with Boon of Creation and Explosive Growth
then cast rotting on the closest mob...and go

but I keep seeing explosive growth do no or little damage some times. And rotting doesn't always work on some mobs.
matter of fact I saw explosive do 11 damage to some mobs and almost passed out when it did it 3 times in a row.

So I am open to anything that will make me better player

do you have to go back to lions arch to get veratas?
I have it on my old necro but didn't even think of it until now.

sparks

I just wish we could have icons for the risen....I could do much more...so I guess thats why we don't

Sparks,

You are not alone in targeting minions. So don't worry about it. I can target my minions because I have had a lot of practice trying to do so. A lot of people do the simple thing:

Target a minion, cast death nova, cast taste of death. Instant heal, instant death nova.

Do that one at a time and you get soul reaping energy and health. But since you are a Rit/N, all of your energy comes from creating undead, not from death.

The easiest way to do it is to scan the battlefield. Look for your enemies, and see green names around them. Click on a Minion, if its health is around 50%, cast right away. If its down to 1/3rd or 1/4 of full health, its pretty much dead by the time you cast DN.

The way I scan is move my mouse around an enemy. That way, you'll see the minions highlighted in green.

Blood of the Master and Verata's Sacrifice are used to keep your minions alive between battles. Generous Was Tsungrai is a way to heal yourself from sacs. Good for in battles and between battles.

Rotting Flesh doesn't work very well against individuals or spread out enemies. It does nice health degen, but you need to make sure that your minions are alive after the battle is over.

Explosive Growth is good only when a minion being created is near an enemy. No enemy, EG does nothing.

Nothing can make you a better player more than experience. By no means am I an expert, but I find after listening to advice, reading forums, and watching others, the only way I was able to get better was by experimenting on my own and figuring things out myself. Advice is a great start, but if the advice you receive doesn't work for you, then try something else. I've been able to monk (with my monk), MM, tank, dominate (mesmer), etc. through experience rather than just from advice. To become a better MM or anything for that matter, take the advice given, then work at it. For some it comes naturally, but those like me , it takes some time.

Oh yeah, Verata's is only in Tyria, not in Canthas.

Hope this helps you.

I go with:

12 Death Magic
16 Spawning

Animate Bone Minions
Animate Bone Horror*
Tainted Flesh*
Death Nova
Taste of Death
Explosive Growth
Boon of Creation
Res Signet

* You can replace Tainted Flesh with Verata's Sacrifice and the Animate Bone Horror with Animate Flesh Golem.

I like to use Tainted Flesh to spread the Disease condition. Then you just add an exploding Minion or two with Death Nove and Taste of Death, and its all good.
