I've done this solo with my ranger too, but I have to say it can be tough to kill the behemoths. If they popup with a bunch of life pods there's really no way to out damage the pod's healing. Plus the pods cast holy wrath that does me for about 22 dmg each time I attack.
If you're really careful you can shot from high-ground down onto behemoths and not cause the life pods to popup. Then it's an easy kill.

this run is extremely confusing. I been in the falls 5 times already, and every time I end up taking the wrong way, and sooner or later I get killed by the spiders when i try to backtrack after geting lost.

When you come to your first group of trolls in The Falls hang a right. Then go past the wagons and keep left. You will go over a root bridge (that goes directly above a big mob of trolls). This bridge has a mob of trolls on the near side and another mob on the far side. The far side mob is a good distance off. There will be a few mobs of Forest Scales. When you see large numbers of scales you're there.d

i find them also hard to beat... the only way what i were able to kill them was: first beat 1 of the wind riders on 1/2 of it's healt, run away and regen, attack so it has only 1/4 hp left, run reg and finaly kill it... and then to next 4 riders!
i found it easy to defeat life pods (only 2 at 1 time tought), all you need is: running skill, dual shot, kindle arrows, penetrating shot and troll ung
when they spawn run away so they can cast holy wrath, cast troll ung and kindle use first pene shot then dual and pene shot, if pod didn't die use those skills again after while. Because everytime when you hit pod with holy wrath on it, it loses 10 enegy which allows you to kill it with fire dmg and dual shots (Pshot is just for lil extra dmg but duals and kindle are your main dmg source) because only 1 of 2 pods can use healing.

The key is to have more than one fast casting, non-enchant heal. If you have just one, it'll get nailed by Cry a few times durring the fight, and you'll be sunk. A little redunency is a lifesaver. This would be signifigantly easuer with a W/Mo. The difference between 100 and 70 armor, as well as 16 vs 12 swordsmanship is dramatic. Since there was no chance of me running my way past the spiders, I stuck it out and killed them. The only mobs I skiped were mobs of 4+ trolls, or mobs containing both skales and trolls. The e-denial that the trees throw at you on the way in is entierly neagted by Balth's Sprirt, and Vig Spirit was a great help against everything but Wind Riders and Scales. Frenzy was just fun when fighting small mobs of anything, especialy mobs of scales and wind riders.
If you were doing to do this on a ranger, you'd have to use some heal besides Troll's Urgent. There is no way you'd get that off vs the wind riders. As it was I had a few tough moments with two 3/4s heals.

No need to kill the wind riders so skip the wind riders (unless you want the fan) if you think they take to long, by skipping the behemoths that have wind riders to close to them you will only lose 2-3 behemoths and still be able to kill about 10 others. Die once rezone and do it again, die again and do it again. Repeat until you get sick of it, get enough drops or what not.

Here's my ranger build. You can kill both riders and behemoths with it. You can even kill solo life pods if you land distracting shot.
As the OP stated... The trick with behemoths is to creep up to them just out of aggro range. With your trusty Elswyth's Longbow give 'em a dose of Poison Arrow. Then just plink away until they hit <50% health. Then destroy them with Needling Shot. It's not too hard.
For riders just poison one and sprint away. Rinse and repeat. Slow but it gets the job done.
As you can see from the picture... I like Totem Axes.

Been unloading these as fast as I can get them. Priced them to sell like hotcakes at 12k/axe. Yeah... way too cheap and undercutting all the other farmers. I don't care... this thing is another Kepkhet's Refuge. In a week it will tank to 2-3k.
Thanks ANet for giving all us 55hp farmers a big wet kiss!

Several times people have suggested using Kindle arrows for fire damage (Useful vs Life Pods and the like) If you have a Fiery Bow Ignite Arrows blows them away.
My Build
Serpent's Quickness
Ignite Arrows
Savage Shot (Good for Spiking the Pods)
Dual Shot
Troll Unguent
Escape
Dodge
Storm Chaser
Escape can be kept up for quite awhile and protect you from practically all damage. Dual Shot and Savage Shot allow my to kill up to 4 Pods at once if I can group them together. I have not succeeded in kill the riders but I may try the half health regen, quarter health regen, thingy post above.

^^ Your build is definitely better. I've added Dual and Kindle to my bar and dropped Needling Shot and Distracting.
Seems theres a lot of combos that work just fine.
