Didn't quite know where to put this one, but i figure its best left in the monk section.
Heres the deal, I'm a Monk Ranger that uses smiting and healing while carrying charm and comfort animal. Instead of just using him as a meat shield, I actively use my pet as a mini tank. I was just wondering who else does this and what spells you typically use?
I tend to use healing breeze, orison of healing, bane signet, banish, shield of judgement, charm animal, comfort animal, and Balthazar's aura.
It's great for undead but it sucks up a lot of energy. I let my pet keep the baddies at a distance, tossing on Aura to help him do dmge(and on occasion i've used judges insight to increase that). If any ignore him and come straight at me i toss soj on myself and deal with it while healing both of us. With my pet aggroing most of the monsters, I can destroy the monsters without having to resort to tricky pulls. Any comments or input would be awesome.
/edit I Cry Your Pardon! though i did use search it wasn't until hours later I found an obscure reference to an similar year-old thread. But this one is for monk primarily, less towards the beast mastery attacks, ranger side, etc.

Are you doing this solo? If so, you might want to try Holy Wrath. Your pet will take dmg, yes, but consider bringing Signet of Devotion as you can use it without having any energy.

I run something like that too. This is what I run:
Orison of Healing
Dwaynas Kiss
Jamei's Gaze (Factions)
Vigorous Spirit
Mend Condition
Zealot's Fire
Smite Hex
Rez
I don't have any elites, but I recomend Word of Healing instead of Jamei's Gaze. With this build you can spam heals and do damage at the same time.

If i understand what you are doing I recommend you go with the classic:
-Air of Enchantment {e} (this will be your e management).
-zealot fire
-Balz aura
-Rof
-Gaurdian
-*(Mend Condition/Smite Hex/Spirit Bond)
-Charm animal
-Comfort animal
Read the description for Air of Enchantment and you should quickly understand how this build works.
mend condition = for more heal.
Spirit Bond = another active enchant--works well with Air of Enchantment.
Smite Hex = for more dmg.
...you decide...

I think I may have used that for a while but this is mainly an anti-undead build, and by switching out orison of healing for rebirth becomes the build i use when wandering around with henchies. The main 2 reasons i use Aura over Wrath is the holy dmge, and the fact that its an offensive spell.
Wrath requires that the monsters always be attacking my pet, which isn't always the case(while if it could aggro slightly better, it would be the preferred spell to use). If my cat has aggroed most of them, then i can just add soj to the mix.
/edit Aura also scatters the enemy, so odds are at least half the opposing force are blockaded by my cat, or running in the other direction.

Ya kinda lost me with rof(i'm tired, so its probably something blindingly obvious), and when i get around to exploring a bit more of cantha, Air of enchantment will definitely get a good trial run. The reason i don't use zealots fire is that it depends on my cat being the main aggro, which it can't always manage(plus i do tend to go for holy dmge)
Thanks for the suggestions though, I'm going to definitely take a look at using guardian. It's a lot easier to prevent rather than heal dmge....
