Default Woespreader farm w/ ranger

I didnt see any solo builds on this and I dont have any pictures or the video making stuff but the build is pretty easy and takes advantage of sloppy game mechanics.

The Woespreader
Energy +10
Dark damage: 11-22 (Requires 9 Death Magic)
Halves casting time of Death Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
Halves skill recharge of Death Magic spells (Chance: 20%)
Health +30
Health +30

What it looks like:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/8/8b/WoeSpreaderPic.gif

Where he is:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/9/9c/...r_location.jpg

Not in game so I dont know my stats but they were pretty basic it was something like
9 marksman
9 Expertise
11 Wilderness + mask w/ superior rune // just a messing around build

Heres what I used and farmed him succesfully 10/10 tries getting the woespreader and selling it for 40k on my 5th run:

Reds Gimpy Build:

Winnowing

Favorable Winds

Poison Arrow (elite)--dont remeber what my WS was but i had 21 second duration)

Powershot

Dodge (for out running oni if you pop a spawn)

And Dryders Defence to swoop in fast and pick up my loot.

The tools:
Elswyths long bow or Dragos--pretty much anything with long range--the poison 33% is ok but doesnt matter to much.

Here we go:
Start from eradon terrace head south towards the beach.

Youll see Woespreader and his group and another group of naga. Once the other group of Naga (not woes group) moves back and begins its movement pattern, drop spirits. Target woespreader and move up on the little hill for maximum arc. Fire poison arrow and run back immaediatly. OOOOO they break aggro almost immeadiately! Reapeat alternating between power shot the poison arrow back and forth. Let the naga spawn reset then continue. Make sure not to get close to Woespreader or hell necro your but and regain health. Im sure theres a faster way but this way is easy and relaxing for me. Make sure the last hit on him is from you and not the posion or youll get no loot. Just run back and forth shooting him breaking the aggro. Hell be dead in no time and you have a woespreader. Enjoy!

thanks for the build

don't know if i'd call it relaxing though....was a bit stressful running in and out and whenever he got a parasitic bond on me from a bad run in i'd curse

it did work, took awhile on first run killing him, hasn't dropped for me yet tho

What do you think about Storm chaser instead of Dodge? Storm chaser had a longer run time with 21 seconds and allowed me to run out after the shot and back in quicker and easier without them chasing me out of there

Again, thanks for sharing

Been doing this for a while myself with a slightly different (but no better) build. Just wanted to point out you need to be careful of the two Oni mobs behind you. If you run back too far you can cause them to spawn and that sucks.

Default Problem

I have tried this and I do not seem to be able to get the other mob to move off. they just stay there, or come up the hill toward me. Worse yet, I think the Rit in that mob is taking the poison off of Woe. So what am I doing wrong?

u cant use winnowing by my opinion.
couse u cant get is close enough to have it in your favor, couse u are running up and down the whole time. and if the spirit gets in their agro they wil kill it.

i tried it a few hours 2nite.. and its almost impossible to evade "parasitic bond" all the time.. so he will get healed a few times..
i cant seem to get him lower the 25% and he will stay there for a long time.

i put 16 in marks to do some dmg.. u must otherwise it will take u even longer to kill him.

and 13 points for poison arrow.

most of the time when im fighting him. it seems to take for ever....

you need to shoot then pull your character out almost immediatley, bringing storm chaser with a 21 second run time helps running out as they'll leave you alone almost immediatley and go back to their spawn point

I'm not sure this would work since I haven't tried it out yet. (I'm at work.) I know that Parasitic Bond is a pain in the ass so why not prevent it from landing?

Since the OP's original build has some openings in it for skills I suggest going Ranger/Mesmer. Pickup Hex Breaker from one of the Canthan skill trainers.

With zero points in Domination you get 15 seconds of duration. When you're attacking if he does get a parasitic off it will fail. This will keep him from getting a free heal.

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Hex_Breaker

The big drawback is that it's a stance. So if you go to sprint away using another stance Hex Breaker will end. This also might not work if he tends to cast parasitic as you're running away.

I'll try it tonight and post about the effectiveness.

A little time consuming but I am sure that will get less as I practice. But on the first run i did solo and I got the staff. Nice job redringrick.

It's definitely a slow farm. If you can get a friend/guildmate to 2-man it with you I'd go that route.

After testing Hex Breaker I can say that it's worth having on the bar. Ssesk never got a Parasitic Bond on me the whole time I farmed him.

13 WS
13 Exp
10 Marks
Rest in Domination

Hex Breaker
Read The Wind
Poison Arrow
Optional (go for a damage attack)
Favorable Winds
Zojun's Haste
Dodge
Troll Ungent

Poisoner's bow string + Longbow OR Elswyth's Longbow

Took me a while to kill him, but it does work. I typically poisoned him with Hex Breaker up then ran back w/o going into Dodge or Zojun. This gives him time to cast Parasitic Bond and Hex Breaker to stop it. Then you can sprint away.

Rinse and Repeat (a lot)

Im glad you enjoyed it. If parasitic bond or anything but a stray arrow is hitting you,,your doing it wrong and your timing is off. I have it down now where it takes me 2-4 minutes to kill him which isnt that bad considering the payoff. All im doin is the second you fire poison arrow move back while still firing. This breaks aggro. Let them start to move back and power shot. Repeat. This can be done really fast with practice. If your having to use hex breaker or anything else your doing it wrong and your timing is off.
Have fun!

Can you get some 'print screens' and show where you are when hitting them? I've been doing quite a bit of attempts and can't get it the way you describe.

However, I can still kill him fairly easily. Some things I've noticed from every attempt:
- after the first shot mobs linger around in-between myself and Ssesk; that makes him charge at next shot attempt, so take Hunter's Shot to help with bleeding dmg
- as someone mentioned: he gets Parasitic Bond off quickly, so use Hex Breaker to add more dmg and keep him from healing
- rarely Ssesk will cast Suffering immediately after Parasitic Bond, so keep Hex Breaker up all the time
- Ssesk spawns in slightly different places each time, sometimes behind a curve in the mountain so have to run a bit farther out to hit
- rarely the patrol will keep patroling; not a problem except makes the process longer
- a sprint skill isn't necessary to break aggro
- never timed it, but feels under 10 minutes

I should also point out that I don't have Prophecies, so I have a bit different set-up:
- Apply Poison // always keep up
- Focused Shot // use for initial shot and ending shot(s)
- Hunter's Shot // use for all in-between shots
- Favorable Winds // always keep up
- Troll Ungent // use when something goes wrong & getting loot
- Esacpe // ditto with Troll Ungent
- Zoujun's Haste // only use on the run to the hill
- Hex Breaker // always keep up

Actually I would love to do a video for this to show you. Do any of you know what program I can use to capture it and where I can post it? I have never did this before and you people seem to be having some problems and I would like to explain through video.
So if you could please provide a link to a video capture software and a site that will host it for free I will gladly take one to demonstrate.

Why not keep Hex Breaker up anyway? You have room on the bar for it, and it's low energy insurance against either Parasitic Bond or Suffering.

You are right about one thing... as you get better the farm goes faster.

Thats a really good idea and having the room for it sure helps. I am sure it will help others to farm him effectively. I dont need it but I am sure others will find it useful. Thanks for your input and advice on this farm!
Happy farming!

1.After the first group of naga comes up the hill and turn back lay Fav. Winds.
2. Go a bit down, Read the Wind and Hex breaker....... go in and Poison arrow, run back up.
3. Now the second group stays w the first one. Watch Woespreader health. There's always one naga further up. Be ready, close, and RtW and Hex Breaker, get closer..... the second Woespreader bar turns red again, the naga goes towards him. Now you go in and you should have time to do Precision shot (or whatever else) and Poison Arrow and run back, Dodge should be recharged by now (although you rarely need it).
4. Naga stays further up, you get ready... Woes health returns to normal, naga goes back, you go in and shoot again.
5. Rinse and repeat.

Just remember to always have Hex Breaker up. Don't run too far back (Onis),
and every now and then, replace Fav. Winds.

He's a CHEAP %#@&% . So far, 75% of the time not EVEN a Naga skin. 1 gold. bleh.

Good luck and Have fun!!
