Question Verata's Sacrifice, is the change better or worse?

The spell now = Spell. Sacrifice 15% max Health. For 5...10 seconds, all of your undead allies gain +10 Health regeneration. All Conditions are removed from those allies and transferred to you. This Spell instantly recharges if you control 3 or fewer minions.

-10 Energy-2 casting time-60 second recharge

The spell before (can't remember the spell changed before or after factions) = Sacrifice 10-20% (Can't remember) health and all undead allies (that includes other players minions) will have a +10 health regen for 10...20 seconds.

-10 Energy-1-3 casting time (Can't remember)-30 second recharge


When they changed the spells, I was in the jungle with level 18-19 bones horrers. Blood of the master was pretty much useless (perfect spell now) I remember I had army's at my disposel 25+, I was god. However that was with weaker enemy's, I wasn't sure how I would do in stronger places like Under World or Droks. Did they change the spells cause MM were to powerful AND HAVING LOADS OF FUN or cause they might do better with flesh golem in Under World.

Inconclusion I miss the days of a powerful MM I had Minion with more than -10 health degen, thats how long they lasted

Simple fact, as much as I hate to admit it and being a hardcore necro fan, MM's were overpowered. It was fun to run around with a gazillion minions trailing behind you but there wasnt an enemy that could do anything. What I would have liked to have seen were more creative ways to nerf it. Changing the AI to spike the Minion Master, generating mass undead chaos would have been so much more entertaining. >:)

I think what I miss the most is leaving after a FA run with a bunch of arseholes and having all of them whispering you after because they died. >:) C'mon, you all know you did it...

I think it is more or less the same.

VS has disadvantages from pre-factions regarding small armies and bigger. I think 5 minions is a small army. Verata's Sacrifice recharges instantly if you control 3 or less. I don't count 3 minions an army.

I still use it when I MM, its still good for surviving minions after a battle. Cast VS, then rez more. VS is better than BotM after battles, I think.

People think its been nerfed too much, since the Death Magic limitation, VS is still viable.

VS is totally, completely and in every way useless. They took a key MM skill and make it useless.

3 minions???!?!? Essentially, it NEVER recharges instantly, so thats a bogus 'improvement'.

10 second duration + 60 second recharge???!!?! Use-less.

They need to restore VS to what it was pre-nerf. We'd still have our minion caps (grrr), so what's the deal. VS used to be very useful when traveling across the map with minions.

am i the only person who realizes that a cap of 10 minions was implemented?

this drastically changes the mechanics behind being an mm, and you need to adjust. yea, a 50 sec downtime sucks, but you should be recycling your minions anyway so that they don't gain too much degen.

No you are not. I mentioned (not saying limit of 10 minions) that Death Magic limitation. I was referring to the minions controlled of course.

I've noticed that a lot of MMs almost sac themselves to death (just before casting heal area). Recycling your minions is a must and an inevitablity. Minions die by time or by spell or by attack, etc. Not all creatures drop a corpse. Sometimes bodies are used so you can't replenish your lost minions. VS helps heal minions, it also is good to stop you from spamming BotM too much. Its usefulness has diminished, but I still use it to some good success.

Verata's Sacrifice would had been okay if they would had kept the 21 seconds duration. Now it is completely useless skill. They destroyed it. Increased energy cost, casting time and amount of health sacrifice would had been a lot better solution than crippling the duration.

if your a good MM 10minions are nothing to keep up. but with there being a cap i dont mind if we have someone els running wells or a few corpse spells. before the "Nerf" necros really didnt play well together unless 1 was curses.

About the necro change.

Before you could apparently get large armies of minions but now...

With a 10 cap on minions and for example, 10 in soulreaping, once you get to 10 diends, every fiend will no longer cost 25 energy, it's down to 15 energy with a required 25 in your energybar.

Still that's 10 less energy, even more if you have more soul reaping.

It can even be used to gain energy:
Bone minions come in pairs of 2 per corpse. If you have 8 in soulreaping, you're already gaining 1 energy per cast.
(2 dead minions = 16 energy, you need 15 energy to cast = +1 energy ftw)

it's eh well, MMing seems to have changed~

And 10 seconds of +10 regen is like a 200 hp heal. In those 10 seconds you could stop BotMastering and you could be raising more dead guys. At least, that's how I use it.... It allows you to heal them while doing something else~

What I've been saying for ages, can live with the cap but at least bring Verata's back to something more useable like before, and I'm not looking forward to Nightfall as I can see an even bigger kick in the nuts coming.

Also at a point, the minion degen is so bad that even when i cast VS it does ABSOLUTELY nothing, not even slow down the degen so i dont even use it in my MM build anymore... a waste imo.

That's not all they nerfed. Verata's Sacrifice now only works on 3 of your oldest minions no matter what the tooltip say. Try the skill yourself, other minions will not get the +10 health regen bonus.

Haha that remembers me..I was running barrageway like a year ago...and we used judge's insight...we faced MMF...we ripped those minions up fo good yo!

Well, I'll admit, I hated the change when it happened. Took me a while to adjust, but I still use it along with Blood of the Master. Most of all though, Anet should not change this skill. If they give in now and change it back, people will start complaining all over again about the other changes made. Elementalists will complain about the aoe nerf, warriors will complain about their armor nerf, etc. It's fine as is and should remain that way.

Also, to counter the above post, a MM's shelter would last about 2 seconds when its minions got barraged. Without a ritualist primary, the spirit will be weak, especially considering communing will around level 10 or so.
