I was wondering if there is a place or specific monster that has a high rate of dropping keys, mainly shiverpeak keys. In the past, when i want to buy keys i see ppl who have over 50 keys that they want to sell in bulk, and got me wondering if there is a way to farm for them.

Maybe im just tripping and these ppl actually collected them for weeks to sell them ( usually around 450 gp, so i know that they wouldnt buy them at a merchant and loose 150 gp per key.)

Guildwiki research shows that the drop rate for keys seems to be at around 1% for all mobs. Chronically overfarmed mobs, like Mountain Trolls and Smite Crawlers have a lower drop rate. But to my knowledge there is no creature with a significantly higher drop rate for keys.

I genrally get 1 key every 2/3 runs of trolls so if its a person whos farming trolls for a few hours getting 50 keys wouldt take long....

well if you have factions...you acn farm vermin and i get about 3 keys (canthan) per run...works great for this weekend's event

Yeah I agree with Lambentviper. When I regularly farm vermins, they drop a canthan key about once every other run, so they drop pretty frequently, and due to the double key drops this weekend, they should be dropping at least once or twice/run. That would be your best bet for keys. As for Shiverpeak keys, while farming trolls, I get a key about once per every three or four runs. So multiply that by two so every other run.

Well i disagree with 3 keys a run and its still hard to find a gold chest down in the vermin run (although i just found a perfect clouded maul except for req).
They keys there right now you are lucky to get 1-2 keys a run.

Sometimes if you see people vending keys they buy them from other users who don't want them and they sell them for slightly more than bought. If you go to luxon areas or Kurzick areas you will see people selling keys 550 each this is because they are or have once been in an alliance who owned one of the outposts in their territory and they can or have once been able to buy keys for the reduced rate of 480 each. Making 70 a piece.

they could be part of an alliance who controls a town and bought the keys cheaper, then reselling them to chest runners

For those who wants Shiverpeak Keys just farm Grawls in witman's Folly. Ranger Eoe farm. You get at least 1 key per run.

this event doesnt effect UW/FoW >.> its cantha only, and UW/FoW doesnt really count as cantha as you can go there from both proph & factions and any other chapters that will come. >.>

i havnt really farmed anything during this event, so i wouldnt know how the key drop rate changed, so meh! >.>

best probably is vermin/grawls tho..
