Do a search i think the +5armor and a +30 hp has been tested allready. On the long run +5 i think its better, but if u are struck with a lot of degen then +30 is better. I have both in different weapon slots so i just switch when i need them.

I remember seeing somthing about this on a GameFAQ Guide for the rangers.

If I remember correctly, the armor mods would be good for Melee classes while the HP Mods are suited for the long range supporters (Mages, Rangers, etc).

If you're being hit by attacks that actually care about armor, +5AL is better than +30HP. Unfortunately, a lot of the damage you face tends to be armor-ignoring, either in the form of degen, lifesteal, or armor-ignoring spells like Obsidian Flame.

Well in PvE, you won't be spiked... so unless you're constantly at 30 health stick with +5 armour.

+5 armor is always better than 30hp in the long run

Cheaper too, bcause most noobs stick to reasoning that 30 is better than 5 :P

I often run dual sups on my Warrior to make tanking/damage easier, so Fortitude is an emerging favorite. Ive been a longtime supporter of +5 armor though.

generally... I think

vs Spike: +30 HP
vs Pressure: +5 armor.

in PvE though... its generally pressure.

however I spec my ranger for PvP... and in PvP, the +30 HP to help survive spikes is worth so much more than the +5 armor vs pressure... therefore I (and various others) spec our weapons with fortitude.

That is the only reason you'd ever need a fortitude mod, the fact that you're going to be running a sword with a sheild (unless you're a total dunce) you should go with the +5 armour, the sheild will typically have the fortitude for you, i however have both :P a Vampiric fellblade of fortitude and vampiric katana of defense, works out great in the long run

oh yeh, also forgot, if you're ever going to get under spikeage, then go with the +30 mod :P

Nah, Ive gotten to be a good enough tank that I can run hammer and still tank just fine, even in SF/FoW/UW etc.

In general, 30 health isn't going to save you from a spike; an infuser will. Given that it will give the infuser an extra 1/8th second, but since human reflexes only work at 1/10th second anyway, I dont think that +30 health mod has much benefit versus the +5 armor. The + armor will generally reduce damage from many different kinds of attacks over longer periods of time, saving you lots of health in the long run.

And... you could always carry a +30 just in case you get low, and switch out!

The gear trick doesn't work any more. And if your holding anything like a ritualist pot you won't get any bonuses.

+Armor helps against physical and elemental damage while +health helps against armor ignoring damage and degen.

I like others use both, depending on the situation. Just switch weapons depending on whether you are facing constant pressure (+5AL) or armor ignoring damage, spikes and degen (+HP).

Most damage is actually armour ignoring which is why +30hp is better.

I agree with Vaga, I have enough armor as it is with max armor and spamming Watch Yourself! constantly the only damage I fear is degen and armor ignoring, both of which armor does not protect me from.
