Ummm.. Ill have you know I play PVP a ton.. this includes HA and GVG.
I think you are either mis informed or do not play serious PVP at all.... frankly a thumper WITHOUT a pet is no where near 10 times better than one with.
Maybe you don't understand the concept of a thumper build so Ill explain it. You use Ferous strike to gain energy and adrienline to fuel your hammer attacks so you never run out of energy. Even with high expertise, eventually in a long fight you will still run out. Thats the issue.
Im not saying the build you posted was bad because it certainly is not... its a great build to run. However, thumper, it is not.

No way. Enraged Lunge is PIMP. 100+ damage every 5 seconds? I think so.

Yes enraged is an awesome skill... the problem is the same thing though. You can't get your energy and adrienline refueled so quickly. So whilie this is a very viable option, its not as consistant IMO. I do agree though, I occassionally run this too for fun and as a change of pace and indeed it is "pimp" as you so put it

Personally I think 'thumpers' are made because of the 'thumping of the hammer' with low energy cost due expertise not the thumping of the pet.. at least thats my view. Call it what you want, on the end its all a R/W with a hammer.
Some version I once played with and liked:
*cant remember the exact attributes*
Something like
10+3+1 expertise
12 hammer
6+1 beast mastery
6+1 Wilderniss
- Tigers Fury
- Devestating Hammer
- Crushing Blow
- Heavy Blow
- Irresistible Blow
- Apply Poison
- Troll Urgent
- Res Sig
(It was funny poisoning everyone around and unleash the combo from time to time)

thumping is using the hammer, its the "bunny" part that has to do with the pet

The thumper is the hammer, the bunny is the bunny hop animation when you thump. The pet is along for E management and damage add.
afaik, you can't cap a bunny as a pet (though I'd dearly love to)

True, that's the difference withHeal as One. However, why Runas One over Dodge since the main point of having ranger as a primary is expertise and dodge = 33% faster vs 25% for Run as One AND you avoid arrows.
And again, for all those thinking having a pet is the key: in none of the build I've seen more than 12 points used in BM. No, again the main point is expertise. Otherwise, just make a warrior, you'll have a better armor... You can have a pet, but heck that's not the key of the build.

Yes, Dodge/Zojun's Haste are also viable options for your sprint slot. No pet needed for Run As One, as stated.
Ferocious is shit for Adrenaline... 1 Ferocious=2-3 Adrenal, as far as I can tell... not worth your Elite slot when now you can run something like Shove and not really need Adrenal at all. Expertise is the key.

Ferocious Strike is nice because you gain more energy then you spend (I prefer 9 expertise, 12 hammer, 14 beast mastery with Ferocious Strike so you spend 3 to gain 10 and net 7 energy), your pet does extra damage (+27), and you gain adrenaline (1) every 8 seconds. You need adrenaline for Hammer Bash. More adrenaline means you can knockdown more often. More energy means more spamming (especially Irresistible Blow).

Unless someone can tell me who originated the term "Bunny Thumper" and what they were thinking when they thought of it I would say that it is open to interpretation. My take on it would be the Thumper part would mean the hammer and the word "Bunny" is to differentiate between a War Thumper and a Ranger Thumper....eh...my 2 cents.

thump thump thump
It's called a bunny thumper for two reasons:
1) the comical look of the Ranger's running animation while holding a hammer
2) the ability to constantly use hammer attacks, esp. knockdowns, due to energy conservation, and to do so at 33% attack speed. Like bunny thumping at fairgrounds.

question:would devestating hammer work more efficient than backbreaker due to the 3 less adrenaline cost and the fact that devestating hammer causes weakness which + heavy blow gives another KD toppled with a crushing blow?

^ no hammer bash > heavy blow
if you use devestating hammer and your tagets dies for 6 more strikes you have a wasted skill
