I plan on making the video a tutorial in itself, but I'm worried about the size of the file. Mal (and others), how big a file (in mb) are you willing to download?

Excellent.

Unlimited size. So long as it's hosted somewhere that isn't slower than christmas.

Here's a bonus question for R and anyone else using the R/W setup

Using R/W, with
Serpent's Quickness
Dodge
Storm Chaser
Charge!
Shields Up!
Balanced Stance
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent

How is one able to plow through a spawn such as this (even an early spawn):

Notice the spread of the Ice boys. And there's another one, at the bottom. The guiles are spread out. Everyone is spread out. This isn't all that uncommon either. I would call it about 50/50 chance to see something like this.

So how do you beat getting smacked by 2 or 3 slow hexes with zero removal in above build. And even with the tank-the-damage approach, the guiles beat you down with their shadow strikes while the other crawl gang up on you, as the Icy boys ensure you're walking.

Places like this interest me. Because sometimes, even getting past them, it doesn't mean it's so simple every time. And waiting them out, for a good position, can take 10+ minutes since these mobs aren't pathed like Ice Imps. These guys just randomly mule around.

This is the first place, that I have interest in. There are places after this one, that are similar. Such as past this, there's a corridor with more Ice boys. They sometimes spawn and simply stay in the middile of the corridor and there's no way not to go by without being slowed, again, in a pack of guile-rich-crawls. Though it's minor, compared to that particular spawn, and compared to the next one after that:

Dreadnought's Drift. I find that this place isn't a 100% place to run. One has to run half way practically, check out the spawn point of the Heretics, and if they're in the way, turn, run back and re-zone if able. There's just no way to 100% run this area every time with the above Ranger setup. Re-zoning pretty much is required if the spawn is bad. Again, spawns making a lot of difference (for obvious reasons).

Anyhow, I look forward to some good stuff.

Cheers!

What I would have done, if I was in the position that you are in the picure, is hug far right, try to get into the little alcove, safely. If thats impossible, keep running, again, still hugging far right.

oh, and get sentry's armor. It helps more than you would expect.

Heya,

That still doesn't mean it would make it. There's at least two hexes here that will be cast on you, before you ever get down that hill in this situation. Hugging the right and dipping into that corner will not get you down the hill either.

And if it does happen to work, at the bottom of the hill is the other Golem waiting to hex you again, assuming you survived this, with your already low health at that point, even with stances/troll engaged.

And as for Sentry's Armor, isn't that Factions only? - Not buying Factions just to have armor

Anyhow, I look forward to some videos of how people navigate through things like this, or if a re-zone is simply neccessary. It would be nice, I imagine, to have a small compilation of the same area, with different spawns, and how they're successfully run. Only a few areas really would benefit this, but it would definitely be a nice tool.

Cheers!

Getting through spawns like that is easy. Try to avoid them as much as possible. If you aggro them, don't panic. Chuck on Serpents Quickness then Shields Up, then Balanced Stance, and hit Troll Unguent. You should be taking no damage at all because of Troll Ung., and you won't be knocked down by Water Trident. As soon as Deep Freeze runs out, Charge! out of there.

The best place to stop and heal there is to the left after you go down that little hill. You can see this place on the snippet of the mini-map you posted.

I had this awesome person run my necro who was like level 7 run me from ascalon to droks for free. They were a ranger until droks where he was a wamo but he was so awesome at it that i bet he would be a sweet r/w droks runner but i didnt add him to friends.

I will have to disagree here, warriors have more tolerance for physical damage than rangers ever could, and with Sentinel's Armor they have just as much resistance to elemental damage. 13 Strength I believe is needed in the drok running build for W/Mo, 12+1 minor rune or helm.

I do believe a ranger could run Droknar's Forge, but with less garuntee to tolerate bad spawns.

It comes down to the point that even without hex removal, which Warriors do have, Rangers can tank it out just as good, or even better. You Warriors can remove your hexes and keep running, while us Rangers tank it out.

nah, it comes down to the point where you don't even get touched by hexes. Warriors need to stop and regen for energy etc.

ranger's don't need to stop at all.

There's a lot of big talking in this thread.

Not touched by hexes, at all?

-- Video, unsegmented, decent enough quality to see mobs on radar.

Otherwise, I'm calling absolute and utter bull-excrement.

I have a funny story too. This 5 year old was talking all this junk right, but he was looking pretty tough, so I kicked his ass. Damn I'm cool I can woop 5 year olds.

Telling all these stories doesn't impress me, you beat crappy runners, good job. Run is a lot easier when you have the wammo tanking lornars....

Yes, warriors with 100 armor vs everything are squishier than rangers with 70 vs everything and 90 vs cold. That makes sense.

And I don't need to stop for energy regen. Ever.

Warriors dont need to stop to regen energy, only if they use mending ~~ Witch aint needed, and help a very little, since 6 hp a sec wont help at all X.x The Warrior might need to take a quick rest and hit Heal sig, recharge a skill or 2. But in that time a ranger is tanking it out in the group of enemys behind.. So its not like a good warrior is that much slower than a ranger.

And the fact that a Warrior might be a little slower, is made up in sucess rate..

(Note about Mending: Mending is crap for droks run imo, even Symbol of Wrath give bigger rate of Scuess than Mending, as it helps vs bodyblocking.)

Note About pic: I got DP in Snakes dance cus i needed my Symbol of Warth vs troll body blocking. And in Talus i could have used my Endure Pain..

Default sheesh

well. either u r real good or real tricky

but im convinced, rangers are better runners than warriors, however, to me, the droks run is boring and stressful (ive made about 3/7 times on my w/mo). Also i have found that desert runs are much better for profit. Now that people are only paying 2k(3k tops) for droks runs i have found that it is just as good a profit if you charge 400gold per stop at the desert and make 14k per run starting at amnoon and the whole thing only takes about 20-30 minutes if you do it the right way. Another thing about the desert is that the only semi-hard part is the scarabs at the teleporter on the way to augury but these are easily avoidable if you sprint past them behind the teleporter to break aggro. If you charge 500gold per stop which may take longer to get a full group you can make 17.5k. Also, the run can be made by someone without many running skills , the only skills i ever used were charge, sprint, troll unguent, and i used "i will survive" once because i somehow got hit with 8 conditions at once(im guessing traps but i still dont know how i got disease on me)

well anyway to make a long story short imo rangers are cooler and better runners than warriors and imo desert running is more fun than droks.

Mal, wouldn't it be easier if we took you on a run rather than making a video?

It would certainly be easier, but two of you already stated that videos were to be made.

I would very much like to see two independent videos, like that.

Especially after a bold statment such as "not being hexed" is thrown into the batch.

Because while I know and love that Rangers can do this, there's a difference between can and that. Also, with the way spawns work.

Anyhow, I would still like to see a run completed.
I'd even pay as if it were a normal run to make it semi-worth while.
Perhaps sometime.

Cheers!

Come on now guys. You both said you were going to make a video, are you backing out now?

Mal isn't the only one waiting in anticipation...
