Default Advice? Battle Rage - Sword

For PvE and I've been pretty successful that one time I RA'd, I'm running a Battle Rage build, and I was just wondering how good you guys think it is, it's completely my own thinking (although I don't doubt there being a similar build) and it's worked for me for quite a while.

Whammo
Swordsmanship: 16
Strength: 13

Sever Artery
Gash
Battle Rage {e}
Standing Slash
Galrath's Slash
Silverwing Slash
Balthazar's Aura (for caster henchies) / Final Thrust (RA)
Res Sig

The main thing is to keep up Battle Rage in order to be able to spam Standing, Galrath, and Silverwing. In PvP, the increased run speed is helpful in chasing down those annoying monks and I usually time my Battle Rage end with a Final Thrust. Advice is greatly welcomed, and thx in advanced.

Your build looks like it would have some great DPS, but since you're in RA you'll need to free up a slot for a self heal. That said, you should bring either Healing Signet (drop Strength to 9 and Tactics to 11) or Lion's Comfort (Strength 11, Tactics 9). The choice is really up to you, but I prefer to use Lion's Comfort because the only time you'll have to heal is when you're being targeted. Also, you might want to bring Mending Touch since you're going W/Mo. You don't need any points in Protection to make it useful, and with the number of Flashbot Mesmers I've seen around RA the past couple days, it will really help. If you include these modifications in your build, you'll only have to let go of two attack skills. Since a Sever>Gash>Final>Normal Hit is usually enough to take down a caster, you'll have more than enough damage.

The main thing I absolutely hate about Battle Rage is the fact that every time you renew it, even if it's still running, you lose all adrenaline.
If it didn't behave like that, I'd be very tempted to take it. Sure, I'd lose out on an IAS, but the adrenaline boost would pretty much make up for that.

I think back in beta, it even acted as an IAS as well.
As it stands, it's a pretty "meh" elite.
I periodically go back and try to make builds that utilise it, but every time I find it crippled by the loss of adrenaline.

I remember when they tried it so it DIDN'T make you lose adrenaline when you reactivated it. It was so imbalanced it wasn't even funny. Once you built up the 4 adren it was simply a joke.

5 attacks is kinda over doing it so if possible take only 4 of them possibly take server gash silverwing and standing slash should be more then enough damage. Also you have no self heal which you kinda need in RA.

In all fairness, back then Strength had double the effect it does now on attack skills...

And hammers had higher damage.

Balthazar's Aura on a Warrior sucks, taking 25 energy a pop with a 2 second cast and a long recharge. I fail to see why this is on your skill bar when there are much better options to choose from. Lack of IAS stance makes building adrenaline for Final Thrust very loooong. For PvE, go with Flail or Flurry. For PvP, Frenzy.

Notice that your build is using zero energy. Try taking a maintained enchantment from your monk side.

(NO! NOT MENDING.) When I was messing around with Battle Rage in the arenas I liked: Life Bond on a pair of squishies, Holy Wrath on a pair of Squishes, Strength of Honor on myself and another meleer, or Succor on a pair of casters.

1. in RA take a self heal, i hate being a monk and trying to heal others who have no self heal

2. ur name : DKnightJ is almost the exact name as my warrior : Dark Knight JJ, just thought i'd mention it =P

OH NOESSSS, I put aura instead of spirit... I would put that on the casters cause they do get hit and benefit the most from the energy.

Thx for the help all!

I love Battle Rage, except the fact that if you do anything but attack or battle rage, it totally shuts off, making it and you, useless.

The new sudo version for this skill is RaO for the rangers. Check it out;

[skill=big]Rampage as One[/skill]

[skill=big]Battle Rage[/skill]

Except that ANet improved on the model and made a better skill for the rangers. They justified it by making it linked to the pet and BM line of skills. I'm abit jealous of the ranger elite, since now Hammer thumpers are better at using a hammer at the moment than the guys that should be using hammers.

However, that's beside the point. My point is that the skill, Battle Rage, would be alot better if it was a touch more like RaO;but I think that is obvious.

If you must use battle rage you can really use any non attack skills like heal sig or mending touch and such because every time you do battle rage will end and you will loose all adrenaline.
I some times use it in r/a for kicks and as you all know you need some self healing but what to take because as I mentioned anything you will take will end battle rage.
I use at 8 health mending + watchful it gives you +5 health regen ok so not great but its something I guess and as its a passive heal you dont have to worry about battle rage ending.

I got Healing at 8 also and my skills are....

Battle Rage {E}
Sever Artery
Gash
Sun and Moon Slash
Final Thrust
Vigorous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Res sig

I've found this build works very good in RA. It did for me . 20+ Wins in a row. I used a Vamp sword hilt since it gives a little extra damage and adds to the healing. Also energy management isn't a prob since the only spell you cast is Vigorous Spirit every 30 secs.
