Default Steel ingot farming?

Once again my search-fu has returned no results, so I ask you all again (as you were so helpful last time, thanks!) where is a good location to farm for steel ingots? I only need about 40...

Farm Tundra Giants, the chance to get a few Steel Ingots is comparatively high.

before when the computer runs wild, outside of senji's corner (factoins) there would be vermin and then they would drop koi secpters and clouded mauls and other stuff. you id it first then expert salvage you can also get lots of scales this way. i dont know if u can still do it efficently with the new patch but i guess its a worth a try : ]

I would say expert salvage swords and shields. That is how I over time, counted up like 150 steel ingots and a good 1000+ iron ingots.

Armor of all kinds often expert salvages into rare stuff. And bracers salvage into metal.

I've also had good luck getting steel from amber wands.

I agree. I did this one, and out of a full inventory, I salvaged 21 steel ingots.

For a greater chance to salvage any rare material from an item, upgrade it with a "Measure for Measure" inscription.

This means of course the item would have to be optained from somewhere in Elona (Nightfall) and be inscriptable. Once you upgrade it with the inscription use your Expert Salvage kit on it for a greater chance to salvage rare materials like Steel.

People have been using this method to farm Gems by upgrading and then salvaging Jeweled and Ruby items.

Problem is on average these inscriptions can go for anywhere from 1-5k each. If you're playing in Nightfall you'll likely get more of these inscriptions than you need, and it will help with the salvaging of the Steel ingots.

Start saving up.

Some do run, but it doesn't seem much slower, just about a minute or so different then before.

Well with an axe farming build I did one run and the last huge group took a looooooong time due to the new ai. As well I only got 2 Koi Scepter and only one steel from that. I'll do the run again, but I don't see this as to great right now....

EDIT: 2nd run 6 koi and only 1 steel...looking for other hunting grounds....
