I like the gargoyles the best , since there skulls are used for both spiked eggnog and candycanes

And I outside nolani is pretty great for that. I wont be stopping until the 1st

Default Blood/Death for Gargoyles, Grawl and Charr

My 2 farming cents!

I just head out of any Ascalon Area with my Necro using a blood/death build. I kill a few things (charr/garoyles/grawl) and then animate them. Then let my army kill while I collect skulls/carvings/necklaces. Got me lots of shards and other drops as well as trading in for about 50 candy canes so far. Can NEVER have too many of them.

As far as Kamadan goes, my Dervish just scythes through all the level 1 and 2 stuff and I've ended up with about 20 more candy canes after trades.

Loved the Save Wintersday thread too. It was fun to quest with Rudi the Red Nosed Reindeer!

Thank you Areanet for providing a great game and continuing to make it fun and interesting.

where did you do that?

Probably best place for grawl is just outside frontier gate to the left , there's quite a few and its quite a short run.

Yes exactly, from there to Surmia. Go to Ruins of Surmia, exit outpost and run west, when you follow the path you'll also encounter a circle filled with crawls and further a little hill filled with them as well. At that hill there's the end of the run, so it's quite small but you can farm there like crazy and get loads of stuff in no time.

I do the total run in less then 3 minutes, kill nice amount of Crawl which give me 10/12 necklaces and 3/4 shards. When done, zone to Surmia, en re-enter. Do this crazy style and you can get easely 150 necklaces, I did a few runs which got me almost 170 necklaces in 1 hour and I'm sure when I do this 1/2 hours I can get 3rd hour close to 200 necklaces, it's just practise. I used a Ritualist/Mesmer and the Haste skill to run. My channeling was 16 and healing skills are useless, because you don't need it with 16 channeling which instandly kill those crawls.

Default Ice Imps

So um, for that nice mob of easily accessible imps outside of marhans grotto....

My problem is that farming with my warrior was painfully slow, does the old mo/me 55 work any better for farming imps? I was pretty sure I tried I can't remember if it works with the new update though, I'm sort of a pve noob Maybe a ranger would be faster? Just seems like the low level creatures are your best bet.

Really only if you can't strafe though...ranger is faster due to flurry of ice. Monk just has a slight chance of living to wave 5, but it's slower...so the ranger outspeeds it easily by being 1/2 way through 2nd run when monk is still on the 1st (I do the grenth quest for defending gifts, Rock + Flurry + strafe + snowballs = gg).

Heres a map for an easy place to farm.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3.../WGfarmmap.jpg

and heres the build.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Gfarmbuild.jpg

you might have to be careful against the rangers. 2 or 3 is ok, but around the middle there are around 5. Just kill them quick, and dont stop casting.

You can see i got more than just WGCC materials. I got a siler dye and a bunch of shards. One run takes about 30 mins. Each can give around 20-25 Candy canes and 10 shards.
Use burning speed to run really fast. Against rangers and storm riders use rodgorts with fireball. Against char use the close up skills. Its very hard to die so dont be worried about it. Pump everything into Energy store and fire. Im not sure its the best route but I think its pretty fast.

A guildie of mine farms skulls with Flame Burst and Star Burst, and says it's even faster than MMing.

/Mo for Mending, believe it or not, but no Holy Veil. Says the snares don't matter much.

Can one do well in that without manually dodging snowballs?

And is it only available from Kamadan?

I farm for grawl using flame burst and star burst on my ele. I take a couple of ranged spells for stragglers, flame djinn haste for aoe dmage plus speed boost, and deaths charge to pop into a groups before starbursting. fun stuff. with jsut casual farming in between running the holiday chests i'm close to a stack of green candycanes and ahve more tahn enough shards for my needs.

The thing I really like about this Wintersday farming is it gives you a chance to use skills and builds that generally don't see the light of day 355 days of the year. Besides that, it's quick, it's fun, it's low-key. Anyway, here's my Gargoyle build:

Aura of Restoration
Dark Escape/Shadow of Haste
Assassin's Promise {E}
Death's Charge
Inferno
Flame Burst
Liquid Flame
Fire Attunement

I think I went Fire Magic: 15 (11 + 3 + 1), Shadow Arts: 9, Deadly Arts: 9, and Energy Storage: 9 (8 + 1)

Use Aura of Restoration and Fire Attunement to keep your health and energy up and Dark Escape/Shadow of Haste to run between battles. When in range of some Gargoyles, hit Assassin's Promise, Death's Charge, and Inferno or Flame Burst, depending on how many creatures are within range. Then pick up the drop(s) and repeat the process. Liquid Flame the odd Resurrection Gargoyle.

i like 2 55 out side bergen hot springs clear all the undead, then go through the portal the bottom, clear all them, then do this again..you get tonnes of emblems..cc shards..dyes and tonnes of non max golds..had about 15 gold dead bows, 1 with 30hp..lots of wands..staffs..etc all good for wisdom title

also, when i get bored of that, i get my ele and go from nolani upto grentch couthouse, then back
u get skulls..carving..also had 2! black dyes in 2days from these also other junky dyes

I do gargoyles outside of Nolani Academy. I use a MM necro. Bring Healing breeze, bone minions, and deathly swarm. Deathly swarm does x2 damage so you can get 3 gargoyles down to about 30 health. If you aggro a bunch of them then constanly spam deathly swarm and animate bone minions you have a constant supply of energy and a nice big army. In an hour I can get about 100 skulls, which is 50 CC. I am up to 250 Candy Canes right now. It does get super boring, but it is worth it. I have also gotten a couple white dyes, and some other random reds and greens and such.
