Default How to avoid the scatter AI?

I miss massive mobs around me and not running away/scattering like wierdos when they take any amount of damage they don't like. Anyways, is there any way I can trick or get these guys to stay around me? It's really annoying farming guys in little groups of 3-4 instead of 10-12. Only thing I can do close to the olden days is trapping Mountain Trolls, but even then its kinda annoying, and takes looooong to set up. I just wanna wack ****. Any suggestions?

Warrior monsters will run when they get low on hp. Other classes do not.

If you deal any aoe dmg in less than a 3 second pulse it will trigger the scatter.

1) wand them, they come back
2) Step back, they will follow
3) Snare with cripple, water magic etc

you can switch your style of farming to farming ranged creatures as they normally don't run away.
and you can encorperate bleeding and so on so when they do run away they can still die. brable can be good for this w/r walk back drag them all use none shall pass woop they are all bleeding then if u had laceration up as well is 5 degen then more bleeding when that dies.

Another option is life loss, not damage, just loss. ie. Spoil Victor, its fast (5 hits dead) and its not actual, "damage" that can be blocked. They will heal but they wont run, great for boss farms.

This is not true, they certainly do run. This can, however, be prevented by attacking the hexed enemy with a weapon.

You can try farming devourers in thirsty river... I do that as a mo/n (normal hp, no special armor) and just bring regen enchants, balth spirit / e bond, and some dmg reduction + ss & defile / desecrate enchants.

It's been posted as something like "Farming with the rock trick" or something like that. All you need to do is pull a ton of them into 1 spot, move them so their LoS causes their "arrows" to be obstructed by the rock. Kill them with SS / defile, SoA, and run in to trigger the traps they've laid (you'll get killed before you can get all your loot otherwise).

I have been able to farm elona reach using a 55 necromancer by picking a minotaur, wanding it and using SS, and letting it die. Now keep in mind the mobs will only run when they reach roughly 1/2 health, so when the first guy dies just pick one of the minotaurs at 1/2 health. Wand it, SS, let it die. Once there are only 3 left, they won't run anymore. It's slower than it used to be, but it works!

There's also a nice r/w build on the forums somewhere which uses evasion/cyclone axe to farm heket. For some reason they don't seem to run and even if they do, the poison is often enough to finish them off. There is no easy way of stopping melee mobs from running, just ways to minimise it's impact.

There is a technique with dual builds that makes anitscatter. Due to them targeting the second person but cannot reach them. There is a post about this Under an underworld build

Can Sv actually kill someone?

well i guess it could kill a 55er since the boss will be at 55+ and take 75+ dmg... (life loss)

Kill them fast with a pulse. There is a build posted about a mo/e 55 for minotaur and troll farming, they try and scatter but due to MS they can't, and you have enough damage to kill them very fast.

I remember in the update, it said something like, "Monsters will run from target to heal, unless the target is close to dying."

So.. I haven't worked at ALL on this but I thought MAYBE, you could take damage until you have ~% heal then put [wiki]Shadow Form[/wiki] or [wiki]Life Sheath[/wiki] on you so they won't run, and damage them.

I'll have to think more on that though.

Edit: Found it.

^Someone else tried it with stoneflesh aura and minos. Got to 15 health and cast stoneflesh, taking no damage, still scatter.

Really?

Maybe they changed the AI with the other AI updates that soon followed that one.

Darn, thought I had something

Hmm.. maybe anything under 5 health?

1st thing that comes to mind is the Endure Pain bug.
