What would you recommend as a build for each of these? I've about to start playing my Ritualist later today or tomorrow, and I'm eager to get things going.
He's already in Kaieng, so yeah lol. Just tell me some good wayso fp laying a Ritualist (getting to eager to get him to Elona!)

echo is nice for the rit. wish it came sooner in the game.
anywho.....a build with no elites.....
channeling 16
communing 12
spawning 4?
pain - nasty spirit with ok cast time - 25 dmg
gaze from beyond - these skills tie to the spirit
essence strike
spirit burn
mighty was vorizun - nice extra armor and energy
channeled strike - you want to hold an item when using this.
spirit rift - bread and butter. cast this before channeled or gaze.
res or flesh of my flesh

if you read the skill's definitions it's self explanatory. you should read them and give them alllll a try. you'll be more familier with the skills and and character in general.
some skills do ok dmg but do better dmg if you're holding an item. channeled strike is much better is you are holding an item. i like mighty was vorizun since it gives energy and usually when you 'hold' an item you lose energy from no longer 'holding' your weapon.
some skills do ok dmg but do better if there is a spirit in the 'area'. essence and spirit burn give free energy and/or more dmg if you are in the spirit's 'area', which isn't very far from the spirit's location. i like pain is it does some ok dmg per second and has a quick cast time compared to some of the others.
gaze from beyond doesn't care, it will take from the nearest spirit. no matter whos spirit, ranger or rit.
spirit rift is just nasty. cast it just before gaze or channeled strike for a nice spike.

My favorite restoration build is the Vengeful Ritualist, seen elsehwere on these forums.
Since the the recent buffs, I've been having a lot of fun with a 15 communing, 14 channelling, rest in Restoration pure rit build:
Painful Bond
Pain
Bloodsong
Spirit Rift
Essence Strike
Soul Twisting {e}
Spirit Light
Flesh of My Flesh
I use SOul Twisting whenever moving to new area so that I can quickly cast BloodSong. Painful Bond makes the spirit damage even more evil, and spirit rift/essence strike is a nice spike on a target while your spirits whittle 'em down.
In AB, ditch FomF for Mend Body & Soul or Lamentation.

I've been looking into channeling and commuing as a they seem to have lots of cool synergy. as of yet i havn't had the time to work with em.
but there's a whole lot of stuff that jsut seems designed to work with communign in the channeling line.

well, what the hell, here's a healing Restoration build of mine thats constantly changing... maybe one day i will make use of draw spirit... *sigh* a man can dream. and why does soul twisting have to be elite? :[ *ANYHOW*
Amok's nameless polymorphing rit heal build (or something).
attribs:
12 [+hat and/or rune(s)] restoration - rec. 15
12 " spawning power - rec. 16
equip:
20/20s where applicable/available, wish there were more straightforward canthan collectors' wands and offhands :/
skillbar:
Attuned Was Songkai {E}
Life
Recuperation
Ghostly Haste
Resilient Weapon
Wielder's Boon
Spirit Light
Spirit Transfer
edit: suppose i should throw in some usage notes... basically, Life is your b**ch ^^, zap it when need be or you know, whenever you feel.
if you want more direct healing , like say when you don't have to escort or protect some ridiculous number of npcs or Shrubbery *cough*ihatethatmission*cough* i sub Life out for soothing memories to be able to spam something pretty much constantly.
you'll have ~10s or so of downtime with attuned, and with ghostly so you should try and time them well...
oh yeah no res of any sort, i used to use fomf + generous was tsungrai but toting Recuperation around with me recently became very expensive ...

I've never played with anything much other than Restoration. My usual restoration build goes something like this:
Lively was Naomei
Mend Body and Soul
Soothing Memories
Wielder's Boon
Spirit Light
Weapon of Warding
Recuperation (or Spirit Rift so that I can periodically inflict some pain or Draw Spirit so I can take Preservation with me)
Preservation {E} (before this I took Spirit Chanelling {E} but I never find energy an issue at all so it wasn't a problem getting rid of this. Spirit Channelling is, however, much earlier in the game than Preservation)

Those of you that doo restoration builds try teh memser Elite Energy Drain.
That skill works particurly well excecially against warrios who want to get to know you.
more seriously though it seems to be the best form of energy manegment i've found for pure Resto

Oh let's not worry about this much more now for me, I deleted Palienth last night due to a bit of frustration, a bit of lack of interest for the time, and a really bad evening I had.
But! I encourage everyone to keep posting these builds cause Ritualist's are going to want other opitions now (thankfully) since the days of the Lord have decreased some.

I just made a Rit and leveled her to 20. She just finished Vizunah as a channeler and I'm loving her so far. She really spanks other casters and does decent damage against Rangers/Warriors.
This thread has been very valuable to me since it's convinced me to branch out from the channeling line. (Yeah, strange. I know channeling was underpowered before 9/15.)

Alright, so here's an outline as to the benefits of using echo with any of the following skills:
GfB + Echo = High Damage, Mid-Term Pressure
Lamentation + Echo = Quick 200+ damage spike, Short or one time pressure spike. (used best when character is below 50% health.)
Spirit Burn + Echo = Damage is only slightly lower than GfB thanks to update, and it gives heavy pressure to the target
Essence Strike + Echo = Fast Energy Recovery, very fast.
Mend Body & Soul + Echo = will turn you into a pretty good healer for your party. Just use essence strike to keep your energy up.
The godly chain of attack goes GfB + Essence + Spirit Burn and then repeat with whichever skill recharges first
Benefits: This works really really well with a Communist rit in your party, and is a good counter vs enemy Rit Lords because you can sac their spirits to your advantage.
Problems: You're less than half as useful if destruction is targetted and destroyed.

I really like this build. I'm not far enough in the game to get Preservation, but I do have Channelling.
This is a very durable build for PvE and I've had no trouble completing any part of the city.
I actually took this build to RA with a few modifications. I dropped Wielder's Boon for Mantra of Resolve and took a Res signet instead of Lively. It's actually worked out very well.
Thanks!

Thank you
I have recently taken to using Union in place of Recuperation recently. I am very undecided about that slot. It tends to be the slot I use to alter my build to suit the mission at hand...for instance:
If I know there will be a lot of degen and conditions I will take resilient weapon, sometimes I will take Union just to give me a few seconds of rest at the beginning of a fight (worked well in Tahnnakai Temple). Sometimes I may take Vengeful Weapon...In Boreas Seabed I will take an interrupt...savage shot or the like, since I am a ranger. I don't seel dissonance is worth the energy!
I have used this build as the only healer on a few missions now and worked really quite well. Missons such as Zen Daijun, Sunjiang District (when the real monk dropped out half way through!) and Dunes of Dispair.

Wow, I used almost the exact same build, instead I subbed in Vengeful Weapon for Soothing Memories and Channeled Strike for Spirit Rift. I love watching a warrior kill himself because he keeps hitting me while I spam vengeful and ancestors rage.
As far as Channeling energy management goes, I've been working with Attuned was Songkai. Boost up spawning power as much as you can, and along with Channeled and Essence Strike, you'll deal damage and keep your energy up.
This got me thinking how much I hate Signet of Spirits being an elite. Maybe Anet can make a first and "un-elite" this skill for us? Would help out a lot.
