Default Best to have a mix of different fiends?

Hey, I just started out playing a necro (long time elem) and I love it. I have both prophecies and factions, and just capped Flesh Golem. I have animate bone fiend and bone horror, and could obviously buy bone minions and vamp horror if necessary. Right now I have both bone fiend and bone horor in my build, along with flesh golem - is it standard to have those 2? Also, is it better to have more of one kind than the other? Normally if I have 10
minions alive, i try to keep them roughly 50/50 fiend and horror. Is that the best idea, or should I generally sway more one that than the other? Are there specific situations where I would want more of one than the other? Thanks!

My MM usually has Flesh, Minions and I will alternate between Fiends and Vampiric depending on what Im up againest and whether i want the extra health boost or not. THe mix is usually 6minions and 2-3 fiends/vampiric depending on energy and available bodies. I like using them as a meat shield on occasion so there are times when it's all minions to slow the foes down a bit.

fiends do more damage per second but they have weak armor and tend to group together, leading to trouble against aoe damage. they can all wipe fast.

horrors do less dps but have better armor and are melee dmg, meaning they will become that 'meat shield' honor was talking about. keeping between you and the badguys.

i like vamps but they're high priced and a longass recharge. so i usually run fiends and horrors. i like 6 or 7 fiends and 3 or 4 horrors.

fiends do a LOT of dmg.

dont mess with bone minions unless you're using a bomber build.

Agree with holden regarding bone minions and bomber builds.

For Tombs I'll generally stick to the Golem, Horrors and Fiends, Golems a lot easier to target with Death Nova plus people like to see the Golem and does come in handy for a quick Taste of Death if need be, Horrors for a meatshield and Fiends provide a bit of backup in case anything slips through.

Dont want to start the big AotL vs Golem debate thats been thrashed to death as I use that as well where I know theres not a lot of Enchant Removal like in Tombs.

Occasionally use Vamps as well, but dont like the high cost/recharge as mentioned earlier.

In places where you know EoE will be active (Urgoz), I tend to bring 4 types of minions for two reasons:

1.) They won't die as fast from EoE
2.) Very easy to keep an army up as you will be constantly spamming animate whatever

it all depends on where you are playing and what is needed. example - if you need a wall etc like in Tombs. But death nova is always nice to use right before something is about to die.

I often don't bother with Horrors at all. AoE wipes suck... but the damage is better.
