Do +5 Energy bows drop these days?
I'ev been wondering to myself, do monsters drop +5 energy Recurve/Composite bows anymore?
I can't find one anywhere...
I can't seem to find one on the auction page, or the selling forums. Yet, the seems to be plenty +5 longbows, in matter of fact, pretty much every bow from factions is either a longbow or a flatbow, which seems to be a problem, since in PvP the only choice the really is: the Recurve bow.
So not only finding a +5 Recurve is a feat, one that fits the requirement's I'm looking for, seems impossible. I'm not sure if Anet should fix this in the Weekend event coming up, hopefully it will be recurve bow galore, I may be mistaken on this.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
(If anyone has a Req.8 +5 Recurve Bow for sale, I want you to know I love you! )

A Req 8 is going to be difficult, there may be some random golds with that, but most maxdamage bows seem to be req 9.
There is the Rotwing Recurve Bow that should drop from the rotting dragons in Majesty's rest, +5 Energy, poisoning ... could be usefull for a Cripshot ranger.

I know, but the thing is, it needs to be crippling. If I cant get that 33% Crippling mod, I have to use a Pvp char.
A +33% Poison string is better suited to some random build with Poison Arrow or some other stuff like that.
I don't know if you understand where I'm coming from, the poison duration is irrelevant as long as it covers the crippled duration on the foe.
Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated.
(I also hate that skin *shudders*)

It seems that the +5 energy mod is rarer than any of the others and the recurve bow skin is also rarer than the others. The two of these requirements combined makes for a low chance of this kind of bow being dropped.
When playing Cripshot I use a Nandet's Recurve Bow.
Stats are
15-28 Damage (Req 9. Marksmanship)
Damage +15%
Armor -10 (while attacking)
Lengthens Crippled duration on foes by 33%
Health +30%
It's got the neat looking Bramble recurve bow skin. If you would like to farm it yourself the boss is located on the Morostav trail along the way to the whirlpool, might be soloable, but never tried. I believe the current market price on it is around 20-30k so you can also try just buying one if you don't want to farm it yourself.

Really that +5 energy isn't going to make or break you anyway. As you said, its the Cripple mod that's important.

why waste time searching for the mod when you can create the pvp char?

Maybe because some people like to play PvP with their PvE characters.

You miss out on all the chances to optimize your build when you use a pve char for pvp though.

It's not always about optimizing my build. It's a game, I play for fun, not to achieve, or something. I like to stick with one character for a while, I guess it is an RPG thing.
Optimizing can be fun in itself though, like designing something.

Armor and Runeswapping in mid battle is enough of an advantage to chose PVE above PVP made characters.
@Topic:
If it helps you, i had a +5 Energy Bramble Recurve Bow drop from a chest in front of Vasburg Armory so they're quite possible. The downside is that it had a fairly high req of 10.

One of my guildies have gotten a +5 energy zodiac bow(or celestial, dunno, the purple ones) from a chest..unfortunately they're incredibly hard to find outside lucky chests...
And PvE char with perfect weapons > PvP char with perfect weapons simply because you can show off the 15k/fissure armor and switch in different situations such as dp, spikes, heavy degen, whatever to give you the slight edge that might give you victory

It's tough to find a +5 energy bow, but I managed to find a shortbow with +5 energy. Think the req's 9 or 10.

Yeah I use 2 +5e composite bows for the same purpose (1 crippling and 1 silencing) - I found both on guru for pretty cheap (for req8 weapons). They don't seem to be that popular, so you may wanna keep checking the auctions...

I had a req 12 +5 Zodiac bow I tried to sell on the Auction site for a while. I had PCed it from the rare skin sticky thread for about 45k (now the thread shows it for 50k) and figured I would set the bidding at 20k. After a few days of never getting a bid on it I gave up. I still have it sitting in storage, but will likely eventually mod it up the way I want and put it to use some day for a Cripple Shot build or somethin...
*edit* just realized the OP was talkin in regards to a recurve, so I guess my post was irrelevant. =S
