Good AoD builds...
I have an assassin and was wondering what the best AoD build would be. My assassin has monk secondary, so any ideas as to what would be best? This could also be a post for everyone to place their AoD builds and see whos are the best. A/any would be nice.

Or a different version of that A/E.
Way of the Fox
AoD
Shock
Falling spider
blinding powder
twisted fangs
Golden pheonix
Shadow refuge
This is best used for AB as you can tell cause it don't have a rez sig, but damn it works so well, the same great combo, but no fancy stance can save people from it and Blinding powder is perfect for cappping shrines like ranger and mesmer now that it has been buffed. Golden pheoix is used when ever u need energy.

There isn't really a "best" build for use with AoD, but there are preferred methods of using it in a build. There are a lot of sin players that use Contemplation of Purity to cancel AoD with a monk secondary for instance. Attacks like Golden Lotus Strike and Golden Phoenix Strike are also good attack options.
I don't really use it all that much anymore so no builds from my side.

curious to see why people use Aura of Displacement? From my understanding when you shadow step the mobs will "refresh" their target and focus on you. That's why when shadow step into battle they get pwned. If that's the case then why are people use AoD since it is shadow step and will get the mob to focus on them. Just started my SiN this week and so far i tank noob island with no problem. I dont use any shadow step skill so i notice the mob attack normally as if i was to play with my war/ranger/etc... Let me know what you guys think.

When you get to Cantha tanking has to end on your assassin.. People use AoD to jump into battle, release massive loads of damage in a small amount of time and deactivate AoD to go back to safety so they can heal and get ready to go back in.

Contemplation of Purity/Shadow Refuge - Your Choice - I prefer CoP, but I trust my monk to keep an eye on me, and myself not to pull absurd aggro
Mark of Instability
Aura of Displacement
Black Lotus Strike
Twisting Fangs
Falling Spider
Critical Strike
Res Sig/Rebirth (or, for ABs, slot Unsuspecting Strike in before BLS for stupid damage)

My sin build is
Impale
Disrupting stab
Entangling Asp
Mantis touch
Twisting Fangs
Shadow Refuge
Aura of Displacment
Ressurect
Whoever or whatever it is if you unload it all you hit for a sizable chunk of damage after the Deep wound. And if your not ready and somthing jumps you, You can still get away with Distrupting and mantis then scurry away.
Cons is that it's really weak vs non-fleshys
Althought I do like the build of the poster before me.

Well, I'm in Nahpui Quater now, and tanked it all with Henchmen (and doing all the kaineng center/market/bazaar and co quests)... No problem so far... So when and where in Cantha tanking ends? Because with Hench, the hit and run is not really effective...

It ends when you play with real people, end of story.
I still prefer the old GPS/Horns/Falling/TF combo for AoD. Works better in end-game Tyria than Cantha though.

My build works against all classes, eles/necs the best. (wars die vs degen)
BTW its for fort aspenwood/AB
Leaping mantis sting
jungle strike
horns of the ox
falling spider
twisting fangs
dark escape
shadow refuge
AOD
just hang back until you see someone running somewhere. approach them, aod, and leaping mantis. they'll be crippled, jungle strike them for huge damage, then proceed with the classic horns-spider-fangs combo.

Whats the point in having a skill to cripple them aswell as a skill to appear next to them? You might aswell bring Dash and pick another elite instead of a 5th attack skill.

have you ever used AoD before?
most of the times when u use aod on someone, they are already moving. so when u use it, you would either have to use a run skill or cripple them. leaping mantis does that in one shot and sets up nicely for jungle strike dmg.

No i happen to be posting in this section having never used the skill before... i've never had any problems hitting a target with the first skill after AoD... If that skill is Shock then it doesn't matter, if thats GPS then you'd need Dash to catch up for Horns. Theres no need to bring AoD if your gonna cripple them too, specially as AoD is normally there for the 'while enchanted' part of GPS more than anything.

Here's my PvP hot stepper build:
A/E
Disrupting Stab / Unsuspecting Strike
Fox Fangs
Horns of the Ox
Falling Spider
Twisting Fangs
Shock
Aura of Displacement{E}
Ressurection Signet
Works very well for dealing massive single target spike damage, and getting out relatively unscathed.
