Default Monk and Storm Chaser

So I recently switched to Mo/R because I had thought of using Serpents Quickness to get my skills recharging faster but then I came across Storm Chaser. Not only do you move around faster (comes in handy for healing party members that are far apart) but when you take elemental damage you gain energy so that deffinetly helps with the energy management.

I just wanted to put that idea out there and get some feedback from you guys

i understand your problems with e - managment but if you feel that you lack energy all the time maybe mesmer would still be a good sec.

Storm Chaser is nice but wouldnt dark escape be better ?
and you can put return on top of that.

Imo ranger as a secondary for a monk is uncommon, but the most important thing is : Does it work for you ? If yes then fine if not try some of the suggestions i mentioned earlier

I have been using Mo/Me for the longest time for e-management (E. Drain, Inspired Hex, MoR & Chanelling) but my only problem with that was that I always had to keep the inspiration magic up for any noticeable affect...and even with MoR even though you dont have to have a lot of inspiration it takes away from an elite space.

storm chaser seems rather conditioned... esp in pvp, if people pinpoint your e mgmt is storm chaser, they simply stop hitting you and start pressuring other squishes...

additionally, getting hit to gain energy seems... =S

Mesmer secondary is far more suitable for energy management. Storm chaser will only give energy when you take elemental damage. Thats far to circumstantial for a build.

The problem with Storm Chaser isn't what it does, but what it costs. 10e is fairly steep for a run buff on a monk; the skill was priced with Expertise in mind. The good part is that it has a decent duration and does give back some energy if you get hit with elemental.

The real downfall of Mo/R, as others have said, is that it gets outshined by Mo/Me, Mo/A, etc. If you need emanagement skills, /Me has better options. If you want self-defense skills, /A has better options. Ranger is the somewhat the bastard child of monk secondaries.
