Okay, this is the build I've been using frequently with my W/P.
Albeit, I use 3-4 monks when I'm out soloing quests and stuff. Two heros, +1 or two henchies. This keeps me alive considering my lack of defenses/healing.
Try it, and see how you like it though.

Strength: 9+3
Axe Mastery: 11
Tactics: 9
Command: 5
Motivation: 6

Build:
With the above attributes, your skills should do the following:

Rage of the Ntouka [E]
- Gain 6 strikes of adrenaline. For the next 10 seconds, whenever you use an adrenaline Skill, that Skill recharges for 5 seconds.

Cyclone Axe
- +10 damage to all adjacent opponents

"Watch Yourself!"
- Party members within earshot gain +20 armor for 9 seconds.

"Go For The Eyes!"
- For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot makes an attack, that attack has an additional 45% chance to critical.

Dismember
- If this attack hits, it will inflict a Deep Wound on the target foe, lowering that foe's health by 20% for 16 seconds.

Finale of Restoration
- For 20 seconds, whenever a Chant or Shout ends on a target non-Spirit ally, that ally is healed for 39 health.

Soldier's Defense
- For 14 seconds, you have a 75% chance to block attacks while under the effects of a Chant or a Shout.

Leader's Comfort
- You gain 30 Health. For each ally within earshot, you also gain +10 Health.

The only problem I find with this build, is energy efficiency.
It sucks if you're up against anything that can put a spell of some sort on you, that causes you to lose energy each time you hit.
So, if this be the case, you can switch the Elite skill selected, for Counterattack, which basically causes damage and returns 5-6 energy to you if the target for is attacking.

How I use the build, essentially, is first off relying on adrenaline.
Why?
Because two of the adrenaline skills used will keep you safe.
First off, cast the Elite, RotN, this will boost your adrenaline up allowing you to apply "Watch Yourself!". Once you have the shout up, and +20 armor, apply Soldier's Defense. While you have "Watch Yourself!" on (keep reapplying it while Soldier's Defense is still active), you have a 75% chance to block incoming attacks. Then you're going to want to apply Finale of Restoration, because every time "Watch Yourself!" ends, you gain health. ALSO, the Shout "Go For The Eyes!" ends immediately after you use it, because you attack a foe within 10 seconds, every time this Shout ends while you have Finale of Restoration up, you gain health. So, to keep your adrenaline up in order to spam "Go For The Eyes!", use Cyclone Axe when in mobs. And, usually, 3-4 enemies is sufficient enough to provide some good adrenaline with 1 or 2 Cyclone Axes. Every time you're really low on adrenaline, and Soldier's Defense is OFF, re-apply the Elite to boost your Adrenaline. If you happen to switch the Elite out for Counterattack, use Counterattack after Dismember or Cyclone Axe to bring your Adrenaline back up and give back some energy.
Dismember is obvious, use it on your main enemies, OR, if you have enough adrenaline and only a few enemies, hit each enemy with Dismember, apply your defenses, and use Cyclone Axe as much as necessary to bring down the mob.
The last skill, Leader's Comfort, although requires energy, heals just as well as Healing Signet WITHOUT lowering your defenses. You can use it in and out of battle safely, only at the cost of 5 MP.

It's not the greatest build.
I'm slowly adjusting to the new professions, but I thought I'd give it a try.
Please.
Nobody flame my attempts at discovering a semi-decent build, we are all new to these new professions, and I for one am new to 'building builds'.
So if anybody has any tips, post in response to both myself and the OP as to what can be added to make the build better/nullify it completely.

Also.
In high level areas, the two Monk Heros (make one heal, one prot, if you wish), come in handy, and as well, if you bring a Motivation Henchmen, you have more Chants and Shouts to keep Soldier's Defense running and your health steady.
One or two monk henchies makes you near unstoppable I find. I've progressed greatly with this build, even in Master's Quests whereby I was required to take on a fleet of Corsairs (levels 16-20) and my being level 19 (then 20). I died once, and defeated them in the end with -7%DP.

So, try it, see how you like it. I find it works if used properly and if backup healers are around.

This is by NO means a 'solo farming' build.
If you attempt to solo any large mob, or any mob that is anything other than PHYSICAL, you will get destroyed. So I've found out.

Cheers.
Constructive Criticism welcome.

PS.
A Zealous axe may come in handy for energy efficiency.
Vampiric would also come in handy to keep your health up in tough situations by using Cyclone Axe.
As for shield? Take what is necessary for the area, so judge before you venture out (unless you haven't been there before).
Right now I'm maxed Lotus Shield of Valor (+58 HP while hexed, armor +9 vs. piercing attacks) but only because I'm doing a lot of Corsair quests, and they usually have Mesmers/Rangers. If not that, I just use a standard Stance shield for when I have Soldier's Defense applied.
