I found enemy group size dictates scattering too. I found if the group size is 4 or less they ususlly stay on you.

Ok I just fought 12 trolls. You really can't beat them with the 55 SS build. When they lose a certain amount of health, they retreat and heal. I just fought them for 10 solid minutes and couldn't kill one. They couldn't kill me either, so it was a stalemate. That blows.

SS is still a really nice spell. Sure it isn't as great as it was, nor is it really usable as a farming skill, but it's still usable. The thing that bugs me the most is that now MMs will become even more popular. With the hit to SS and AoE in general, you'll need more direct damage. The perfect answer to that is MMs. Especially with the new skills coming out for MMs in Nightfall.

EDIT - Oh and Sertu, I don't want to have another argue about SS vs famine, but it really depends on the players - with a semi-good ranger and monk that's possibly even faster.
EDIT 2 - That was*
R.I.P
I can't believe now the monsters are smarter than half of the players

Yeah it still works. Like I said, I solo'd some Hydra's no problem. But when there's a lot of enemies, it's a different story. Now this is just from soloing them, so maybe it works even better when there is a group, and especially when you're echoing it.

If it hasn't been done already, I can confirm SS works just fine in Nightfall. The enemies don't really scatter. Even in the beginning where there was groups of 8, I was echo SSing and taking them down easily, along with henchies of course. Haven't tries soloing anywhere around here. I'm in Sunspear Santuary on the mainland right now.
