One should wear Tormentor's for EVERYTHING.
Of course, some people will claim silly things like having a larger energy pool is best, but I say: "Screw energy pools, give me survivability any day!" - you have Soul Reaping for the energy.
However, if you REALLY like the extra energy, MM's make the best use of it since they have a whole army to hide behind. Any other necro should bring out their put on some spiky Tormentor armor and do what they do best!

Overall, IMO its the cabalist or scar patterns. The extra energy is just huge benefit and you can't depend on soul reaping for everything (unless you're MM.)
SS armor: I'm assuming this is for pve. Cabalist or scar patterns shine here. From duo underworld or echo SS, you dont need tormentors or more armor bonus. Why? because you shouldn't even be getting hit, you're in the BACKLINES. ESPECIALLY in duo underworld, same goes in pve (but you would have a monk that would be able to heal you). In addition, casting spells like Arcane echo and Spiteful Spirit can drain alot of energy, thus requiring more energy.
Order armor: In general, cabalist or scar patterns is the key. You need to be hitting order all the time and healing yourself (takes work off the monk) and you need energy in order to do so. You should be in the back, and not even be taking hits. If you are taking random hits you should have a monk heal and/or heal yourself.
MM armor: This is really up to you. Since you HAVE to lead in first before your minions follow with the attack (unless you have someone pull). However, i go with cabalist still. I like the fact that you get a BIGGER energy reservoir when you're constantly getting fed the energy from SR. It just doesnt make sense to make that extra 8 energy go to waste. If you're having problems with ganks or any other attacks, i would use dark bond.

Currently I have max collector armor but plan on Kurzick +energy armor or perhaps a new armor from Nightfall. The +energy armor will suit me for anything I do.

Chest and Leggings: Tormentors, 70 armor for the spots that will be hit most by dmg.
Gloves and Boots: Energy, always handy to have a few more enrgy points
And always have a pair of Bloodstained boots at hand.

I got 2 sets: the Minion Master armor (which I rarely use nowadays) and the Energy Armor, Kurzick skin (Scars look ugly IMO). My next set I plan to follow the advice here and get partial Tormentors and Partial enery for the extra help.

I got MM's armor given it's what I am the most. At 75AL when I control 5+ minions (which is a MM's point anyways) it's pretty fine. I do everything with it, given I'm focusing on other armors for other characters ATM. Might get other 15k sets when I'm out of armor to buy for other chars.

I think I have 3 sets of Necrotic... Not sure why now that I think about it.
I proly should get an MM set but I don't rly like any of the Canthan skins. I'll wait for NF and see what's in there. MM set is wonderful for MM-ing- 75 armor and no real drawback (other than the fact you need to have minions) is a great deal impo.
And Necrotic/Tormentors... well... originally, I loved the Grotto Necrotic looks, plus Smite wasn't all that popular. So I ended up buying Necrotic FoW as well... My Canthan is mix and match but it's got chest and legs Necrotic, rest energy, and of course each set has a matching pair of Bloodstained Boots. I can tell you I will def NOT be buying any more Necrotics.
I don't believe in full nrg armors- too low AL, and since I PvP a lot, high AL is a priority to high initial energy.

I'll keep that in mind when I get my 15k Kurzicks armor (despite how plain it looks). Which body parts are high-impact though, because I want to keep some extra energy to chain various skills.

Indeed In Necro builds energy over armor.
This class doesn't require the mix and match dress up that warriors deal with.

If you get chest and legs it's a lil over 55% of all hits... but is the extra 2 energy you get from hands/feet rly worth going for whats close to a 50/50 chance of your high armor being worthwhile? I don't think so.

Hella: I was afraid of somthing like that. I am doing pretty successful in PvP though with my Kurzick energy platemail so I won't upgrade just yet.

Truth of the matter is Necros aren't that much of a priority target in PvP. Esp. as compared to Me and Mo. I guess you will be just fine with w.e you got. I'm just too caught up in the high AL Me / Mo thing.
