Default Ether Prism to powerful?

Personally, I LOVE this skill, but I noticed right away, energy is not a problem with this skill. Infact, its so easy I think it will get nerfed and have exhaustion added to it. That or increase recharge time to 15 seconds. Cause at 12 estorage u use it at 25 energy u get +50 use it right away again at 30-45 u get +50

it makes playing an ele almost too easy. But if anet thinks its ok IM FINE WITH IT TOO! ^_^

ur saying at 25 energy, 10 second recharge, cast 2 seconds is nerfed? I find it still very affective.

Ether Prism > Prodigy AND Second Wind IMO

Kuchiki Akio - Ether Prism seems to be glitched right now, and doesnt factor in that cap.

It also works off the energy you had BEFORE you casted it (not my word, people posted pictures of it). So you cast it at 25 energy left, you go to 0 because of its cost, and then to 50 because of its effect

Thats....interesting.
Ether prism is the perfect PvE skill, however in PvP its way too conditional. One power leak to the two second casting time (not hard to do, at all) and your energy isn't going anywhere. The only advantage I see over prodigy is it doesn't cause exhaustion.

-Or strip you butt naked.
-Or leave you susceptible to mesmer/necro/assassin/dervish enchantment strips.
-Or damage you if it's stripped too early and you haven't floated your energy low enough.

We'll see how it goes I guess...

meh...you choose your own poisons. Each of the Energy management skills offered to an ele has it's downfalls. In PvP, i think the Ether Prodigy will rule supreme on this one, but in PvE, Dual Attune or E. Prism will take the cake (if it escapes Anet's nerf-paddle)

As you inadvertently pointed out, You have to run 12 energy storage to make it useful. While fine for pve nukers, in competitive play the high investment in e-storage on a chacter that generally spects into anywhere from 3-4 lines decreases your overall effectiveness. The 2 second cast makes it undesirable on a flagstand ele because any interrupt is going to ruin you.

I'd rather take blinding surge or a prodigy powered heal party bot to the stand with me over someone with ether prism. The strength in the skill would be that it's not an enchantment, so it can't be stripped. Having E prodigy stripped isn't that big of a deal in most cases (unless it's shattered, in which case you are probably dead), but operating under tranquility you turn to options such as this and second wind. Second wind doesn't require any spec in anything for it to be useful, which is very nice and where it's strength comes from. And I'd rather shoot myself than run 12 energy storage. It could be argued that before the armor-swap change you could always swap headgear to bump up your energy storage to 12 (which is very easy if you're speccing at 9 energy storage like I often do). However, Ensign pointed out in IRC that armor swapping to make one skill useful is far too much micro-management to make it playable.

hence, it's a marginally useful skill in most cases. If you're not running heal party it's a lot more interesting (unless you want a severely gimped HP), but if you're not running party what ARE you running?

Well, Draw and perhaps aegis and/or extinguish. Since aegis requires a lower spec in heal party (I think the breakpoint is like at 7 or 8, I'd have to check) then you can churn out quite a bit of aegises. but then again, you probably could anyway.

The only thing That I would really like to note is that glyph of lesser energy, thanks to it's recent buff, makes this skill stronger. You're not glyphing to use your energy management outright, because it's also catching your next spell.

I'm far more interested in a glyph ele with blinding surge and heal party, using glyph to kick out some hps (not as strong as a prodigy powered hp bot, but surge is really strong) and then running the usual stuff like draw and hp. It's far more feasible doing this than running 12 energy storage ever, which is something I only see done when echo nuking the crap out of the Fissure of Woe.

Might I ask where I can find this skill? I've wanted to play with it for a while and I've been searching around a lot and not yet found it. It sounds awesome (and yes, I play PvE...so I am allowed to say that)...I want to try this for myself.

try a new elite which is not e-management this time. i gurantee, you will love the new stuff. E-Management elites are not neccessary with certain builds any more.

There is a ele boss in poisened outcrops with that skill, also a sandstorm bos there :P

[Poisened outcrops is the monst north piece of the desert in undead area]

it can also be capped in the first real mission from one of 6 torturewebdryders or so.

Thanks Marth, I got it off the Terrorweb Dryders.

I like this skill but...as powerful as it may be the downside to it seems to be the fact that you have to keep a very close eye on your energy. I have to waych my energy like a hawk and remember to activate it when my energy reaches 40-50. This means that I have to cast it every 2-4 spells (depending on what I take)...

I am still currently undecided. The name sounds cool though

Quite. I'm getting on quite nicely with Air Attunement and Glyph of Lesser Energy. Means I can take fun skills instead of a boring old Energy Management elite.
