Thumbs down Nerf, nerf, nerf

Well, the new update is allright I guess. I mean alot of the crappy skills is not as crappy anymore - but still crap.
I was reading all the updates, and didn't notice anything that could make me angry - untill I saw the mesmer skills.

GG A-net for another try to kill the Boon Prot monk, this must be like the 4th time. I wonder why? Are they overpowered - no.
I loved to play Boon Prot monk. But I guess A-net hates them.
So now I don't like A-net, those bastards.

Flame me if you want....

Well I was uttterly delighted when I saw the massive elementalist buff! Now maybe people who claim eles are rubbish can shut up but I am with you on the mesmer skills.

It's not THAT bad...but I don't see any need to nerf the mesmer skills in the way that they have. I did go out and test my usual Domination build earlier and I didn't notice a great difference tbh.

Or maybe the huge onset of healing skills being made available in NF, which validates the healer monk build once again in a GvG format. Anet is trying to give people a push in that direction.

For every build pushed down, another is made available. Your complaint is moot; the build isn't yours to keep, you're only renting it while the skills are as they are. Yes, the boonprot has become seriously less viable, but the job of restoring health remains, and the skills to do it remain.

Would you be less upset if a shift in the metagame had made boonprots worth less, rather than a change in the skills?

AoE however is nerfed in PVE. Surge is no longer even useable. Not becasuse it doesnt hit its intended target, but now its not even better than Burn because enemies are so far spread out it wont hit anyone else.

Its that way for all AoE spells. Enemies dont run from the spells like Fire Storm so much anymore, but they arent in the AoE to begin with, so it doesnt matter.

Pure heal monks aren't going to magically come back to high level GvG. There are still fundamental problems in a heal monks self survivability and ability to deter spikes by means other than infuse. If anything, removing boon prots (the most self survivable of monks by far), encourages three monk backlines, which encourages spike builds, which makes me QQ.

If anet really wants heal monks...nerfing ether prodigy/second wind would be more effective than nerfing inspiration... The most effective "heal monk" is still an ele/mo flag runner with heal party.

I am not to worried in the end though. There is always BLight x2. I think heal monks will flounder, but there are a few new prot skills that could form a very self survivable monk that pairs well with a Blight. I am more interested in seeing how Mo/Me Blight prot monks fair in comparison to Mo/A or Mo/W with stances now. PDrain still rocks, but Drain Enchantment leaves a big void (leech or ether sig?...). The nightfall meta will decide which is best.

The new interrupt behavior kinda disgusted me. Now you can't pretend to use a spell and cancel it to waste someone's interrupt. Speaking as a mesmer, and not a monk, I'd rather have they work on the energy gain progression, than lower the top value. I couldn't care lessa bout boon prots because there are thousands of monk setups that are still viable. I was hurt with distortion as well, but I agree it was too strong in classes such as rangers. To sum up, most of the "nerfs" they have done were not meant to nerf the mesmer alone, but every other profession making use of the mesmer as their secondary. We should be glad in some way =P
