I dunno effigy. I do kinda have a problem w/peeps getting run. Especially monks. It's bad enough that wamo's do it, completely rely on their armor the whole game, get to the end and start spamming "WTF noob monk ... heal!!!"

Sure it's peeps' money and they can do with it what they want, but why pay for the game just to get run through it? Secondly, when I play a monk I can ALWAYS tell who got ran and who played the game through honestly. Monk is arguably, not really the toughest profession in the game to play well. Kiting, energy management, positioning, skill bar selection, team work, it all falls on the monk's shoulders ... oh yeah, then you gotta heal on top of all of that.

For monk, the "grind" of pve is kind of like a boot camp. Monks need to develop instant reaction to events and the way to do that is repitition of skills and knowing your bar. Learning to kite, maintain your positioning are all essential skills for a monk to develop. They need to worry about it from day one and not having to move because you have armor above the level you're at (both char level and player skill level) I feel is detracting from the players experience. Ultimately that will result in teams getting wiped out.

Having said all that, peeps are gonna get run. I still stand by my recommendation of not using the Droks armor until actually geting to Droks. I never ran on any of my characters and I feel I'm a better player for it.

True enough. Usually the people that get run are the ones that have played through the game at least once, usually multiple times, and therefore can afford to bypass the earlier parts either temporarily or permanently. Usually most new players can't afford a run, let alone the armor once they get there, so are forced to play through normally.

Playing through the early stages of the game does teach basic skills, but it is also very different from what you'll be facing later. Even the choice of skills you have in early Prophecies campaign shows the marked difference from endgame play and PvP. In this way, jumping ahead can actually help you start playing in a more realistic way, rather than using Orison and Healing Breeze as your staple spells.

Calling Droks runs cheating just because you dont doit doesnt make it cheating. It just makes it different than how you play it . If it was a hack or a exploit that would make it a cheat. They would have put a wall in between Beachs and Droks if they didnt expect people to make the run. And charge for the run. In which they virtually did put a wall up. Where theres a build theres a way. All part of the gaming economy. I guess if you cant get to Urgoz to farm except by buying a ferry your a cheater? All types of flavors of game some get run others dont. Dont knock how others play THEIR GAME. Because its just that their game. Even after getting my run and my armor that was worth every penny I still went back and killed everything plus a person has a better chance to sell his/her wares in Droks than anywhere on the map. Thus being able to sell things in Droks is a good thing. I guess next someones gunna call it cheating by breaking a profit on selling to individuals and not selling all your items to the merchant as merchant food .
Stands in Amnoon "anyone want to buy a bleached shell anyone"? Roffl

Normally, I would certainly agree with you James, (btw, i love your avatar) but in this case I simply see running to get your droks armor as detracting from the experience. In this case, the experience of learning the basics of playing a character. Getting run affects others imho. Especially as a monk. That's all I'm saying. Peeps will play the game how they see fit, I just don't see why you'd get run. I really think they should have implemented a armor xp requirement. Hey, it's their money and their time. Not mine. That's justmy opinion.

Well, I think it probably does detracted from the game experience if you're playing it for the first time. But, this is not the case for everyone. Personally, I've played every class to ascension and beyond, some multiple times, and it would be incredibly tedious to go through the normal progression with each of these characters.

With the new update, once the enemies reach 25% life they will scatter after taking a hit from SoJ. Shirtless farming, as well as the SB+Holy Smiter are also unusable now.

Farming needs a face lift.

Well, that was mainly a result of having limited character slots and wanting to try different professions. To date, I've made three mesmers, two necros, and one of everything else. The previous necros and mesmers were deleted after I either got bored/frustrated with them or wanted to try another profession, but I eventually decided to remake them. My elementalist and assassin no longer exist, and probably won't be making a comeback except as PvP-only characters.
