I'm wondering about some possibilities ... mark of rodgort + greater conflagration (the ranger elite phys becomes fire damage spirit)

It would work, but it'd be a waste of an elite as the sole combo.

If you could keep Greater Conflagration alive, using it in conjunction with Ward Against Harm would mitigate a lot of base damage, Mark of Rodgort for supplementary degen, and Mantra of Flame, you might get somewhere. Unfortunately, that first problem cripples builds. Greater Conflagration is something to build an entire team around, but it's not reliable enough to build an entire team around, if that makes sense.

For the most part, you're better off with spreading straight degeneration hexes rather than Mark of Rodgort. The only redeeming quality Mark of Rodgort really has is its reduced cost under attunements. Otherwise, even Conjure Nightmare is more promising, and I don't even like it >_>

However, if you've got the skill slot to fit it in, and you can make effective use of it, then go for it.

That was just a first thought when I read about this as I was thinking about degen stuff ... but after I posted this I came up with a weird idea:
ele/r - fiery bow, poison arrow or apply poison (currently pa but may switch to use ele attunement), hunters shot ... I can make stuff bleed, burn, and poison constantly ... kinda fun hehe (unless they have plague touch/sending/signet :-P)

Yeah, but why not just use the mark + fire dmg (flare or weapon) + virulence? Seems easier, more powerful and less skills involved.

Default Mark of Rod. Reduced Energy cost to 15

Mark of R 's energy cost has been reduced to only 15 and it now affects adjacent enemies in addition to the target. This is now the single most powerful nuker skill when combined with other fire skill IMHO. Recently I have used Mark of R with Glyph of Renewal and Breath of FIre and Breath of Fire when a melee enemie is being blocked with your teams aggro tank. Other combos that i like: MOR + G of Renewal + Glowing Gaze + Glowing Gaze does serious damage Plus returns 20 energy if your have maximum fire attributes.

MOR basically makes any nuking skill into a health degeneration. Be clever and use this with any fire skill that causes multiple damage over time (breath of fire, Metoer Showever, lava font etc) and you have amazing damage because the target(s) are set on fire each time the fire damage triggers. This skill is also effective with low to medium energy cost skills with fast recharge skills such as flare, lava arrows (affects three targets) or even incidiary bonds.
