Which armor is better? Extra armor or energy?
Hi, I've recently started a Dervish, and I was wondering which set of armor is more useful, the one that gives +10 AL while enchanted (or some other variant) or the one that gives you +7 energy?
Personally, I find both of them very useful, since Dervishes do close combat, but don't have a lot of energy, despite the +4 energy regen.
Any ideas?

IMHO, the best pieces are the +energy ones.. more energy never hurts
BUT since the prices of Radiant insignias are ridiculously high, i have bough a +10 armor WHILE ATTACKING, and i´m quite happy with it, since most of the time i´m enchanted, i´m atacking! =p

I'd say Extra Armor in PvE.
I hae sentry's armor for the +10 while in stance since I use conviction.
So when I use conviction I have 104 armor .

i use windwalkers on chest and pants, and radiant on all other pieces (and an attunement rune for a max of 30 energy). hp isnt a problem because dervish armor comes with +hp, and around 500hp is fine for pve.

i got the +10 while enchanted one. because a dervish without enchantments is.... >.> not a dervish... and i almost always have faithful intervention in whatever build i run in the first place, so.. this is a very good insignia for me. and also the fact that i was NOT willing to pay ~6k per piece for radiant insignia.

I also went with +10 AL While Enchanted. However, I may switch to +Energy or (more likely) +HP. Depending on whether or not I have issues with degeneration damage, and the like. I wont know for sure though, for quite some time... Testing will have to wait until I get the 7.5k promotion I need, lol.

For PvE I think you should go armor on the chest piece and energy everywhere else, whereas in PvP you should use the radiant insignia everywhere since Dervishes aren't typically the tanks.

To me, if you cant manage the energy in the first place, +7 energy only slightly prolongs the inevitable.
Back to the point >.>, I don't have a problem with energy, +7 energy is pretty meager, and for a melee class that has only 70 Al Id rather have the Blessed Insignia's for my armor.

I use radiant insignias and a zealous scythe with a +5 energy inscription.

Mixing energy and defense armor is no longer worthwhile since the benefit of the mods scales with the chance to be hit in that area. You may get a larger energy boost from putting a radiant insignia on your chest, but that's also the most likely spot to be hit. Vice versa with hands/feet/head.
Radiant might be a decent option if you use a lot of defensive enchanments, as it would allow you to cast more of them right away. Otherwise, the bonus armor while enchanted insignia is probably going to be the most useful in PvE. In PvP, survivor insignia is a good choice.

Which do you think will end up yielding the most benefit: the all-class +10 armor while enchanted insignia, or the dervish +5 armor per enchantment insignia?

Entirely dependent on your build, I'd think. If you're running something with heavy enchantment cycling (pious assault, etc), you're probably better off with the generic one. If you're running something where you throw on a bunch of enchants and go to town (thinking vow of strength and associated buffs here), chances are you'll do better with the Dervish-only one.

In playing through the game with only 25 energy on a dervish I have found no problems. Even with my enchants adding up to 25 energy themselves I was able to keep them up for the entire battles with 9 mysticism. So when it came time to get my endgame armor I went with 5 windwalkers instead of radiants.

High mysticism = no extra energy needed. I have the Blessed Insignias on my armor (+10 armor while enchanted). I am enchanted CONSTANTLY. Use Conviction and 1-4 enchants, and you have it made.

the +10AL while entanted is better than the +5+5+5 enchanted insig...
it only takes 1 enchant on the blessed to get the +10AL oull need 3 running to get +10 on the derv one and to get better ull have to run 5 constantly
they should have made it +5+5+5+5+5 for 1/2/3/4/5 enchants... nothing like haveing a stock insignia beat a specific profession insignia...
then there is the disapointment that the dervish only has 2 unique insignias (both crap) and the paragon only has 1 unique insignia... whats the deal with that...
other derv ones coulda been
+10-+15 while in form
paragon
+5+5+5 per shout/echo/...
or +10 motvation^9 +10 leadership^9
dunno the choices are disapointing

I use Blessed insignias myself. Never found energy a problem with Mysticism and 4 energy pips.

Indeed. The joke is that the Blessed Insignia are usually better than the 3x +5 Class Insignia.
