run it with glyph of elemental power too to further reduce the cost on thunderclap.
Also, there is no RA section, so this is the place to post it.

A thunderclap build's only major use of energy should be on thunderclap. Toss blinding flash, air attunement, gale, whirlwind and maybe even apply poison. You just can't afford it. Bring conjure lightning and cross your fingers that it doesn't get stripped, and bring el cheapo troll unguent as your heal. Glyph of elemental power would probably be a good choice too, although I havent' checked the table for the costs of thunderclap.

Don't take conjure lightning if you try this. It cuases Thunder claps e denial to trigger 2x.

yeah, i already thoguht of conjure lightening but it counts as 2 hits of lightening damage so I don't use it. Although....I think i could use the 33% poison shortbow and use conjure lightening instead...
The reason why i use gale is to interupt/kd for brambles. Also with whirlwind. This build is not intended as a solo RA player. Its pure support for your team mates and some self defense. But thanks for the suggestions. I have tried glyph of Elemental power too but I find myself casting spells more often than I probably shold be.

Try using an air wand instead of a bow. That's lightning damage too.

Shortbows have the perfect timing to keep someone in a knocklock with Thunderclap. I don't think (though I'm not certain) that wands are timed properly.

You're right, they aren't timed perfectly. Wands are too fast. When you knock them down the first time, you'll hit them again losing another 5-6 energy before they get up. You would have to manually attack them by starting to attack/stopping,etc...

Just wondering if you've tested that recently, a mursaat boss kept me knocked down for a good 10 seconds at least today, long enough to kill me. I don't think they use bows. I couldn't even get a reversal in.

Yes, I have tested it recently. The wand MIGHT have perfect timing if they are hitting you from far away. There would have to be a good distance for the lightening dmg to travel towards you before it hits you. Otherwise you would only get knocked down every other lightening damage.
I was also wondering: what if I had conjure lightening instead of a lightening damage bow. That way I could have 33% poison...what do you think? Going to test it now...
Edit: I am an idiot....Conjure lightening only works with lightening weapons...hehe

Practice getting it right with wand instead of using the bow.
Then again, it doesn't really matter. The only place I find "fun" with thunderclap is in hero's battle.

Ive do this in RA using conjure lightning and a lightning bow and I can tell you that you dont lose 2x energy from it. You ONLY lose energy when the foe is knocked donw. They take 2 sources of lightning damage but are only knocked down once, so thats still -5 energy (with elem power).
I never actually thought of using it with ranger skills though, I'll give that a try.
