Default PVP War. help please!

i recently made a warrior with the intent of owning in pvp. this is not happening. i realize some of it must be me but then i dont think i have a high damage build. i just would like to know if anyone has any reccomendations for a high damage (pref sustained but i would do spikes too) pvp warrior. a list of useful skills along with the build would really help too.

Press B and learn.
Eviscerate>Exeutioners is always good, (NOT cleave, deep wound ftw)
Dragon slash>Sever>Gash>Galrath is nice for sustained pressure
Devestating Hammer>Crushing Blow>Fierce Blow is a nice spike
Also, You sound like you're from PvE, so one of the things you'll probably find very surprising is this advice: ALWAYS bring Frenzy. Also always bring Sprint/Rush as a cancel stance. There are maybe 1 or 2 builds that can do without it, (gankers etc.) but take it as a general rule.

Actually, pressing B right now would show a bunch of steady stance W/R's running around. As far as balanced effective builds, an old rule of thumb is that only half your bar can be dedicated to attack skills, the other half needs to be...
-Utility/Healing Signet
-Res Signet
-Rush/Sprint
-Frenzy/IAS of choice
All the attack chains Thomas mentioned are good. Good utility skills can be Bull's/Prot strike, PlagueTouch/Remedy Signet, To The Limit, Shields Up and niche stuff like Fear Me. Watch a balanced team on Obs mode. Stay away from Niche builds like Shadow Prison spike while you're learning to play a warrior. Target selection, positioning, communication, and skill usage/synergy are the most important things you'll have to learn.

Secondaries I use most often: Necro for plague touch, Ele for shock, Assassin for shadowstepping. DPS comes from my warrior skill chain, I usually use the secondaries for the utility.

Lesson one: Don't make a warrior and immediately assume you're going to pwn in PvP.

Other than that...try one of the tried-and-true builds, like the GvG warriors. However, how you play them is also a large part of the story.

try a hammer build they have more luck in random arenas than your average axe warr.

heres some basic tactics:

instead of using your skills as they charge wait for all of them to be ready and then wait for your target to be at a disadavantage ie casting a spell or hexed ect ect.. and aiming for 3/4 hp is good then unleash your attacks, if your hammer use irresistable blow while your charging your skills to keep some preasure on.

oh and chargeing up your adren on another warr is often a good tactic and then going after the monk or chosen caster when your ready.

and asuming your in random arenas try and get your team to play along but keep in mind your probably not the big damage dealer in the group.

You probably wouldn't need a major self heal...

Plague Touch has sent more of my foes to the lobby then one would expect.

Nothing like blinding a ranger and then slamming him into the dirt...

Frenzy + Rush/Sprint = Warrior Staples. Without it, you'll only be able to kill stupid people... Luckily, there's a LOT of them out there...

For your four attacks, [or more depending on your likes], there's an awesome setup to do this...

Deep Wound: get it, love it, use it to kill VERY fast...
Interrupt: Savage Slash [disrupting blow is better than this though, Disrupting Chop, hammers well, they don't need it lol
Non-dodgable: Wild Blow [though the loss in adrenaline is a hefty price to me], Swift Chop, Seeking Blade, Irresistable Blow, Furious Chop [my new favorite, though dodgable], etc...

If all you bring are damage skills, like say:
Penetrating Chop, Executioner's Strike, etc. then you'll be too easy to stop. Bring a varied skill set which will allow you to WHOMP any defenses your foe may have and blam, you're good:

Currently my axe set [for both pve and pvp[ looks like this:

Disrupting Chop, Eviscerate {E}, Executioner's Strike, Furious Chop*

*I used to use Swift Chop, then Wild Blow due to high suggestion, but when I fell in love with Rush, Wild Blow hurt me too much since it killed my cancel stance that was Rush so now I use Furious Chop to keep my skills charged. No stance chain can last forever or ward for that matter... At worst, change targets...

Also, NEVER put points into strength until you've got no where else to put them. Str. is one of the worst primary attributes thanks to a stream of nerfs...

In memory of Strength, it used to be the best, like this:

Strength - for each point you put in strength, you gain 2% armor penetration for each and every attack.

now...

Strength - for each point you put in strength, you gain 1% armor penetration ONLY for special attacks...
