Default Monking for money....

Since 55ing is a lot slower now, I started to just do a lot of missions for fun.

I solo healed all of THK with no deaths.... and a person in the party gave me a plat for it.

I usually look at healers asking for money as stupid... but what about TIPS?

Opinions anyone..?

Thought as much =/

I never said people had to pay me though, getting money for solo healing a mission was nice though.....

Solo healing is pretty difficult, but I do it for fun a lot, so it was nice to make money off of it for once

Heroes are quite nice at healing.. I set up a monk hero with the build I use while I had a few hours left on the buddy key my friend gave me, and it worked really well.

Looks like people think even asking for tips is stupid... figured that would happen, I didn't very much like the idea myself

i personally don't mind compensating for a monk's time if i know they have already done it. the only proof of such a thing would be for me to see a protector title, otherwise i'll presume its a monk just trying to get some extra money while going through the game. i'd only pay if i'm not on my monk though. if i'm monking like hell if im going to pay for a monk who may or may not do more than me.

Yeah I don't have either protector title on my monk.. but I did every mission in factions (aside from eternal grove)

And of course I skipped jungle, ascalon, and a few other missions.... I usually only monk RoF, Souther Shiverpeaks, or the Desert for fun

to the OP:

You do realize that people are just going to take Monk Heroes when they can't find real ones to join. If you do decide to monk for money, prepare to get laughed out most districts.

I ran into (or is it "in to"?) a bonder in FoW once. He did alright, but when we got to the "Restore The Temple of War" quest, he demanded 1k if he was to continue keeping his enchants up.. Of course me and the rest of the team refused, but he just stayed in-game, leeching our drops. With some smart pulling we ditched him to some Abyssals and then laughed at him. He left (who wouldn't?).

Conclusion: Monking for money is selfish, and unfair. You shouldn't be asking for money to do your job in a team. I'm sure it would look funny if an Assassin asked for money if he was to continue spiking targets down..

Brrrr, that's so incredibly lame. I solo-monk cantha missions for fun when I'm bored. I love it when ppl think theyre screwed because there is only one monk in the team and get Masters Reward at the end of the mission with only one death (this only works with a decent team of course). GW is designed for team play, if ppl get charged for receiving help from another player they might just as well be charged for breathing...

It seems like people are taking this as though I'm asking people to GIVE ME MONEY or I STOP HEALING.... not true... I'm talking about tips for solo healing missions (which I also do for fun...)

Saying "Accepting tips" is just as bad as asking for money IMO.

The old, "I'm a monk, and you need me, so I'm better then you all!" mentality.
What about that ranger that manages to interrupt everything in sight, or that war that does an awsome job at managing the agro? Can't we all just be equal?
oh, and: heros ftw...

Shaolin as weird as this may sound that mentality is quite often correct in PuGs.

Often the only player in a party that knows anything about agro is the monk.

Just look at what is extremely normal in PuGs:

Warriors rushing straight for the casters, leaving the rest of the party to get bashed upon by the enemy warriors.

Elementalists doing pulls and instead of running a bit to loose agro they continue nuking and start flaming the monk and warrior because they died .

Assasins staying at the front lines if 5 mobs focus on them, then also flaming the warriors and monk ( well usually only the monk.... )

Rangers attempting to do pulling only to send their pet into the enemy group agroing 2 more groups ( well atleast they try right? )

Warriors and Assasins ( PLEASE do not add dervishes to this list :P ) rushing through the mob we're fighting with into a second then screaming for healing. Wich I do only to find myself surrounded by a VERY angry first mob looking to squash some monk.

Ofcourse monks aren't excused from this list I miserably found out yesterday.

We had 2 healing monks so I thought: Great! Easy healing. Midway the mission i started to wonder why it felt like I was solo healing. I then watched the other monk to determine his skills. Behold:

Healing Breeze - Signet of Devotion - Bane Signet - Spear of Light - Kirin's Wrath - Spirit Rift

And she was probarly carrying that elite divine favor rez as well . And when I told her that her build wasn't exactly good she continued to call me an ugly RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOface who didn't know shit about monking and left, ah well we still finished the mission.

So for me, I will consider myself slightly better in PuGs until they prove me wrong. I do enjoy monking in PuGs though, far more exciting then parties where everything goes good and you only have to heal 1 person.

"paying 500g to each monk that will help us get master"

^seen it today in naphui shortly after i declined their invite and before i mapped out, i felt like coming back and helping for free but they were gone suppose NF is forcing the lack of monks in other campaigns for this *sigh*

Had someone try to pay me to get him through Sunjiaang while he Afked. Perhaps he was a 'survivor' seeker, but I didn't bite anyway.

While I have on occasion been offered money for this or that(free la runs or whatnot), I almost never accept unless they insist. After all its a game, and if I had fun, then that was my monks pay for the day.

Funny you should mention assasins, they're the only ones I'd ask money for healing them. American ninja wannabes.

I'd say charging for your services if you need the mission is kind of lame, but if you're doing it purely for their benefit I see nothing wrong with it. You're just playing on supply and demand to market your services. The same deal with running people in Prophecies--you're offering your time, effort, and expertise in exchange for gold. If people are in a hurry, let them pay. Otherwise, they can wait 20 minutes for a monk LFG.

I really don't see why we would need to unless they insist.
