Why cant Zhed renewal nuke?
I have his bar set up as:
Fire Attunement
Glyph of Renewal [E]
Meteor Shower
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Rodgarts Invocation
Fireball
Healing Breeze
Rez
Now I dont think glyph of renewal+metor shower is a hard concept but for some reason he doesnt pull it off. I constantly see ms trying to recharge and him using glyph of renewal on fire attunement (which i dont understand cause it lasts longer than recharge) and on rodgarts. Anybody else having this problem of heros not renewal nuking and any ideas on how to make em do it correctly other than disabling every other skill besides GoR+MS.

Well, it is an artificial intelligence, so from it's perspective, some things make perfect sense (but to the human, it is stupid). Fire attunement has a very long cooldown, so the computer figures that it is probably a good spell to use Glyph of Renewal on. The AI probably is not thinking in terms of maximum damage. It would be very difficult to make an AI be able to know what is a good spell combo and what isn't, because there are too many different skills in the game (unless the programmer codes that Meteor Shower > Rodgarts > Fireball > Healing Breeze..., etc). So it is very likely that the AI just uses the spells based on very simple heuristics (or maybe he doesn't even take anything into account and just casts whatever he can after he happens to use the Glyph).
Personally, I don't think it is a good idea to make a hero nuker simply because it's difficult to have it choose good targets. For long cast time spells, you may see the old Cynn effect where firestorm starts falling after the battle is over (even before the AoE nerf and monsters just stood in AoE, Cynn wasn't very useful because she always targets who you target, and 4 seconds later, that target is dead and firestorm starts falling). I find that Barragers work will if you are in need of AoE because that can be spammed carelessly. The AI choosing a bad target for meteor shower can lose you the battle (your hero does nothing for several seconds and then trieds to meteor shower a moving target, doing no damage at all).
I haven't found a way to make a good nuker Ele nuker yet (or one that is comparable with a human player). However, I have found that hero monks and rangers are decent replacements for human players (often outperforming PuG humans). If anybody has a good Ele build for a hero, I'd love to see it, but until then, I will play the role of the nuker if I need one.

Heroes are still idiots, even with some of the simplest builds. For best results on an ele hero, do as Eclair suggests and run Searing Flames with Glowing Gaze. Add Serpent's Quickness for increased flamey 'splosions.

Seems he has issues echoing MS, and my Master of Whispers has issues echoing SS...

Zhed knows renewal nuking sucks, so he doesn't do it. he does have issues with glyph of sac+shower and glyph of sac+rez chant though.

So far searing flames + glowing gaze has been great. I just try and set his skill bar up so that they are pretty much the only two attack skills he can cast. I leave some other nuking skills on the bar but disable them and I signal when to cast them.
I also had good results with a dual attune fire also. Just look at the recharge/casting rates and pick them so that he always has a spell to cast. Fireball, liquid flame, rodgorts invocation, and one other fire skill (I usually carry something like immolate) and he is pretty much always casting, with dual attunements he has plenty of energy, and they cover a large enough area that it always damages without me baby sitting him. Generally I looked at what the monsters I hated to fight used and modeled him after them.
Is that the best, or even a really good build? Dunno, but he did well enough with me. Though I think the searing flames+glowing gaze beats it unless Anet nerfs those skills. The heroes are amazing in some of the things they do well, funny in somethings they do bad (say, Master of Whispers or Olias echoing reckless haste instead of Spiteful Spirit and then never casting the echo).

My wife reports that echo SS doesn't work with the heros, even though regular SS does. Same idea. Confirms a point made above.
