Life Sheath is garbage, don't bother with it. It's a couple of hundred points of auto-heal, not worth it for an elite.

List of the best monk elites - that is worth using ever.
Blessed Light, Spellbreaker, Word of Healing, Glimmer of Light, Healing Light,Divert Hexes, Restore Condition.
Rest are trash.

Air of enchantment anyone? Albeit only in certain situations, but it's a good Elite IMO.

niche skill. sorry, but this is probably way off from the goal of the OP: good elites skill for a (healing /prot) monk. I doubt he meant a smiter...

Glimmer and Divert are both nf, so he doesn't have access to those. though if we want to include NF, I'd add Zealous Benediction to that list.

But it's attribute isn't smiting prayers, the skill gives u a energy-discount on all monk enchants cast on target ally. Enchants like prot. spirit, RoF, Guardian etc. etc.
specs:
Air of Enchantment (Factions)
For 4-10 seconds Enchantments cast on target other ally cost 5 less Energy.
This skill was added in Factions
I use it on my monk/assassin as energy-management in Alliance Battles, i would normally use a mesmer secondary but I got tired of being owned by assassins/thumpers all the time. Only drawback is that it only works well in small groups, I wouldn't recommend it for PvE or HA (which is no problem since they never let me in a group anyway ).

As others have stated, Blessed Light is definately worth getting.
Healing Light and Life Barrier are also worth mentioning. I'm not a big fan of Word of Healing, but you should cap it nonetheless.

The only good use that the skill ever really found was on a smiters bar.
@Anarion Silverhand
What don't you like about WoH? I can see it's issues in PvP, but I believe this is a mainly PvE discussion.

hmm, again, I beg to differ. I use it to either to spam RoF on someone being heavily pounded, or to quickly slap Prot Spirit/guardian/Rof (insert random prot. enchant) on someone. I can also find a nice place on a boon/prot's skillbar for it, since boon causes spells to cost extra.
But now i'm getting a litle off-topic, the OP indeed wants to know about PvE, so I should not go throw AB builds around (I recommend it to the OP though, cos its a casual way of getting familiar with PvP IMO).

It has too many flaws in it for most people to consider it a viable elite (much less a good one) on any thing but a smiter. And even then, with the zealots fire nerf, it's not too great there either.
Disagree with me if you want, but I'm stating the consensous of most people who play the game.

i think one of the better monk elites right now is healers boon. 50% faster casting and 50% more health heald.
and divert hexes is just crazy. strips hexes and condition and heals all at the same time. i cant think of a better skill to go vs degen presure builds.
humm sorry didnt see the cantha remark.
i used healing hands and healing breeze almost the whole way through factions.

I hate running straight healing builds, and I've fallen in love with Blessed Light. I almost allways run hybrid builds, and I just don't like running full healing prayers. In all the time I've played my monk, I think I've run WoH 2 times total.

Light of Deliverance is also very nice in PvE. It's to heal party what Woh is to heal other... only even more energy efficient.
Monks really have nothing special in factions (besides BLight. Which isn't exactly "special"), not only in elite skills, but most of the normal skills were just duplicates... or just bad.
