Default Fire and Earth builds.

Ok, I'm no pro Elementalist, but with all the new elites out, I wanted to give it ago. The 3 skills I've been looking at are Mind Blast, Sandstorm, and searing flames. I tried this build in RA which worked out well.

16 fire
11 earth
rest energy storage.

Kinetic armor
Stoneflesh
fire attuned
mark of rod
Mind blast
glowing gaze.
Rez
other

The question I wish to ask are.

1. Would this be better with Searing flame?
2. Sandstorm looks awsome for damage, anyone know a good build for it I could try?

Thanks in advanced, Shuuda

P.S please don't flame me (no pun intended)

This looks alright, but you're very vulnerable to enchant stripping, mark of rodgort being removed, mind blast being used on the wrong target, being interrupted, etc. Aura of restoration can help with the enchant problem, magnetic aura or the mesmer skill mantra of concentration can help with interrupts. Glyph of lesser energy would help keep your energy up so mind blast works more often, but you'd have to test this to see if you really need it.

Yes, searing flames would be better in terms of damage, and steam is a nifty defensive skill in RA. Sadly, searing is really, really easy to counter, especially in the ranger and sin happy arenas.

Sandstorm is used heavily in HA along with a pile of wards. it's not so hot in RA where people will just move out of it though.

Well, I've tried Mind Blast + Flare, and if I am correct that should do more damage than Searing flames, faster and less energy(63 + 57 = 120 + the burning from mark).

And I tried a comb of Sandstorm, churning earth, Ebon hawk and Glowstone, which worked ok in AB for capping.

Yeah, on paper it looks ok, but mark of rodgort is going to get removed early reasonably often, and searing flames is AoE. That does sound nice for AB, though I prefer eruption to churning earth. The ebon hawk/glowstone combo is also a bit on the slow side and causes a somewhat low priority condition. but hey, if it works, go wild.

in the time I tested it in RA and AB Mark was hardly (if ever) removed. Once I unlock Searing I will try it.

Ebon Hawk and glowstone was mainly used for energy, and damage in a 1 on 1,(cause I'd hate to waste AoEs on 1 foe)

Obsidian Flame might be a nice choice since you haven't used your exhaustion pip on anything else, and does a very nice finishing punch on people running out of your AoE storm. Perhaps replace ebon hawk/glowstone with obs flame + stoning for a nice spike against fleeing targets?

Good point, but 15 energy on stoning, won't I have issues(25 from churning, 15 from sandstorm, 15 stoning).

Personally I want to keep away from Searing flame, cause everyone is using it (and that won't make me feel unique), maybe I should look up some water magic,(Cause one of my fav builds ever is Fast casting water).

It's not so rough if you bring along glyph of lesser energy, it's there for a finishing spike, not to be used as often as it recharges. Between attunement, mind blast, and glyph you should be ok.

EDIT: Drat, of course you won't have mind blast. I ran a similar build when factions came out with unsteady ground, eruption, stoning, and obs flame along with a pile of emanagement skills. I did tend to run low, but glyph and the new attunement should ease your pain a little bit.

Good idea, thanks. I also like the look of Shatter stone, seems to do some high damage.

I hate mark of rodgort quite a bit, it's on par with flesh golem for overrated skills.

It's logical that you didn't get stripped of Mark. RA, you'll hardly find any people with Enchantment Removal skills and in AB, it's just too much chaos half the time for people to actually notice you got an enchant on you.

I recently was tinkering with a water build in PvE; and was curious how it would work in PvP:

Attributes: 16 water, 8/9 illusion (whichever r0xx0rz ur s0xx0rz) and the rest in energy storage.

(relevent) Skills:

Water Attunement | Conjure Phantasm | Shatterstone | Accumulated Pain | Vapor Blade

The idea is you hit em with Conjure Phantasm + Shatterstone (2 hexes), then Accumulated Pain, and the deep wound should trigger just as the shatter stone goes off (yikes!), then follow up with Vapor Blade. You can then apply Phantasm again, and finish em off with ice spear or something else... the rest of the slots can be used for health/mana managment, or whatever.

Works like a charm in pve, just wonderin how it would fly in the competitive arena...
