Ranger Skill Ideas for future chapters
Since everyone's had a chance to list off their favorite skills in about four or five thread, I thought it'd be appropriate to start a thread devoted to skills we WISH we had. I imagine that the skill list is pretty set for Nightfall, but I thought it'd be nice to list off a couple of skills we thought would be a nice (balanced) addition to our skill set.
I'll start of.
Quote:
Sonic Shot
25 energy
Bow Attack. If Sonic Shot hits, target foe and all foes in the area are interrupted.
|
Quote:
Throat Shot {E}
15 energy
Elite Bow Attack. If Throat Shot hits, you strike for +10...+18 damage, and the next time target foe uses a spell, it fails.

Shouldn't this be in Sardelac Sanitarium? That's where suggestions for the game should go.

It's not so much a suggestion thread as a brainstorming session... although if no one posts it might end up there.

Ok, sure, I think I'll add a few of my own ideas:
Dual Arrows {E}
Energy Cost: 15
Recharge Time: 30 Seconds
Cast Time: 2 Seconds
Elite Preparation. For 8...10 seconds, your next 1...3 Bow Attacks launch twice as many arrows as normal, damage from each arrow is cut by 20%.
Dirt Arrow {E}
Energy Cost: 25
Recharge Time: 30 Seconds
Elite Bow Attack. Dirt Arrow flies out at a high arc and hits exactly where target was standing. All foes within a 100 foot radius are blinded for 10 seconds. All foes within the radius of this effect take 14...43 fire and 20...49 earth damage.

"Lick these wounds"
Pet shout. Your animal companion attemps to touch target ally and heal them for 34...87 health and removes bleeding and deep wound. If the target ally is suffering from poison, your pet becomes poisoned aswell for the remainder of its duration.
Healing warmth
Pet skill. Your animal companion causes healing warmth around it, and all allies in the area have health regeneration of 1...5. If any allies in this area are under the effects of an ice magic hex, this hex is removed.

^ I think that having a prep to cause deep wound would be a bit overboard... But I like the idea of a skill that causes deep wound conditionally.
Something like
Quote:
Barbed Shot {E}
10 energy
Bow Attack. If Barbed Shot hits a moving foe, it deals +xx damage and target foe suffers from deep wound.
|
But then again... can you imagine that in a Spike group? Might be a bit too much....

This would be a new era for rspike... Dual shot (4 arrows) Punishing Shot (2 arrows). Thats a whole lot of damage you got there.
My two cents:
Pit Trap
20 energy
casting time 3 seconds
recharge 20 seconds
Trap, [standard trap stuff] when triggered that enemy is slowed by 100% for 1...5 seconds this effect ends when that enemy is dealed damage of any source.
Firework Trap [E]
25 energy
casting time 3
recharge 25
Elite Trap, [blah blah] Enemies in the Are are dazed for 5...15 seconds and are dealt 10...50 fire damage.

Trip
5 energy
If target foe is moving while under the effects of a speed buff, target foe is Knocked Down and takes xx damage.

Nimble Feet

For 3-9 seconds, you cannot be knocked down, and are imune to the effect of traps.

Both expertise skills.

There should be some way for a Ranger to cause Deep Wound, but it would have to be made extremely situational or else it would be far too powerful. Most likely something to do with other conditions needing to be present for the Deep Wound to register.

I agree. Much like the way deep wound was handled for the Paragon Class.

Mhmm. I would find it lame if Paragon was given Deep Wound and Ranger was left in the dark. Sort of silly really.

I love the "Trip" and deep wound Ideas. "Crip/Trip Ranger LFG"
Just last night our TA team was looking for a way to add Weaknes and Deep Wound to the build.
I like the sonic too, Maybe in trap form though.
Id like to see a trap that knocks down and knocks off enchantments.
That "Dirt Arrow" is way to overpowerd, needs refining to the Idea. I think the "Double Arrow" one is too. I could not come in preperation form. And it would need to be elite, ANET would never let us Barrage 12 arrows, though if it was a prep.....
We Rangers need a "Blind Prevention" spell or skill

True Sight {E}
Skill? Stance?
For (x) seconds, you're attacks cannot be blocked or evaded, and you are unaffected by Blindness.
Wouldn't really be worth running since it would have to be Elite, but I could see something like that popping up.

Trip sounds like an interesting skill. Although i think any sort of knockdown like that would have to be elite. Its practically the same as Weaken Knees after all.
Nimble Feet would have to be 1second at 0 expertise, to stop any other profession gaining any use from it at all. Although i'm not entirely sure having 'Nimble Feet' would help you against Dust Trap. Perhaps it could simply make you immune to Cripple?
I like the idea of Sonic Shot. But it would make Cry of Fustration a bit obselete as the AoE interrupt of choice.

I would think of trip being more like.
Target touched foe is knocked down if moving.
Kinda like a bull's strike without the damage.

I'd like to see an elite interupt with a hefty recharge (20+ secs) that could not be blocked or evaded. Though it might steal some thunder from rangers that use Seeking Arrows.
