Makosi's 55hp UW Duo Build
As a result of high request for my Underworld Tanking build I've decided to plonk it here:
The 13 healing is for +4 mending regeneration which counters bleeding and will give +1 health regeneration whilst bleeding. The high divine favour is for lengthened Spell Breaker and an improved Blessed Aura duration.
Bonetti's Defense is your powerhouse and you can use it as much as you want up until the smites where they must hit you to trigger the draining effects of Sympathetic Visage.
The key new skill for me is Spirit Bond which does not require 600hp or anywhere near that to trigger. This may be a bug but Spirit Bond's healing effects trigger before any other enchantments are considered (i.e. Protective Spirit). As a result, when creatures hit you, you are healed with the effect of Healing Seed and your health shouldn't drop below ~80%. You'll notice that when you get to Smite Crawlers, you can then tank an infinite number of them safely because they'll keep triggering Spirit Bond and recuperating your health.
It is important, however, that you have the Shing Jea ascetics purely because they are weak and have the same energy bonus as all other ascetics armour in the game. (The entire set cost me about 700g, runes cost more though).
Please leave comments ifyou feel the need to and I'll update this post with whatever info is required.

With both mending and breeze, it dosn't really matter if the squids do enough damage.
Using Frenzy or Elemental Resistance would get the squids to do enough damage. Using either of those skills would allow you to bypass healing prayers altogether--at least for smite runs.

1. Damage Delt
2. Reduced by armor (Ele Resistance would bring your armor vs phys to 0)
3. Damage is Doubled by Frenzy
4. If the damage at this point is more than 60, Sprit Bond triggers
5. Damage is reduced by Prot Spirit
makosi just bypassed the problem altogether by using mending+breeze and 55hp.
The last time I tanked in the UW, I used something like
7-8Illusion
13-14Prot
16 Divine
330hp, and a kerpet's refuge
Spellbreaker
Spirit Bond
Prot Spirit
AV
SV
Blessed Aura
Balth's Spirit
Elemental Resistance
It worked great, altough I ended up running into problems with terrorwebs.
Edit: With no need for the nec to have SV/AV, I had the nec bring enfeebling blood, which brought the damage of the terrorwebs down to 5-7. Now for those souls with IW....

Yeah I totally just looked at the bar and didnt notice the 55 hp. My bad. I assume that second screen is from the POV of the SS Nec?
Note, its also possible to switch HP totals, drop Blessed Aura, and use Retribution to speed up some fights. Itll hurt your energy though.

Yes, my friend sent me that screenshot when i first 'discovered' my build as it is today. It was cool at the time but i can tank even more now because Spirit Bond keeps your health above 80%.
Tanking Terrorwebs is easy with this build. There's no need to use Spirit Bond as breeze and mending counter the burning by around 4 pips of regen which is plenty to survive.

I aggro them with aatxes but if you aren't that confident, they're easy to tank with Breeze and Prot Spirit. Spam Bonetti's when you can.

Hi there what about changing to mes secondary and bringing mantra of resolve instead of bon def just to help out with getting distracted during casting. I run it and is great against aataxe as you can even cast spell breaker if you missed a DN. Great idea tho ;-)

Mantra of Resolve will hit the energy too hard I think. Careful timing and use of Bonetti's Defense will make interrupts much less of a problem. Don't wait until Prot Spirit starts flashing until you recast it, use it failryoften for the divine favour boost and to renew it. If an aatxe interrupts it (which does happen, even through bonnetis while they are hexed with Reckless Haste -haxxorz) then you're doomed as with all 55hp builds.

VERY easily. Mending + breeze overcompesates for the burning and spell spamming keeps the HP up.
One thing I forgot to mention: Weaponry.
Fire Flame Spitter with +18,19,20% enchantment mod
The -50 Grim Cesta
Holy Rod (Max damage and customized for killing Dying Nightmares)
20/20 Divine Symbol
Before aggroing terrorweb dryders, switch to the 20/20 divine symbol + FFS and hope for a fast recharge of Spellbreaker. It makes life a bit easier when you chain Sepllbreakers. The 20/20 Divine Symbol is good for when you get DP too.

Cast SB before aggroing aatxes then they definitely can't interrupt it. With Blessed Aura and the high Divine Favour, it lasts ages.

So the skills you use are somewhat like:
Mending
Healing Breeze
Spellbreaker
Spirit Bond
Prot Spirit
Blessed Aura
Balth Spirit
Bonetti's Defence
???
My question is: will grasps do enough damage to you, or do u have to take the quest while fighting the aaxtes?

lol you dont even need mending and healing breeze if you just aggro the whole first room...
also, resolve doesn't hit your energy hard at all. what i use is:
14 protection
13 divine favor
rest in inspiration
1. prot spirit
2. spirit bond
3. spellbreaker
4. resolve
5. life attunement
6. blessed aura
7. essence bond
8. balthazars spirit
just make sure that the necro has blood ritual before you go in.

I personally would stay Mo/W as Bonetti's is key for energy and you don't need to worry about interrupts. Spirit Bond has a 2 second recharge, and while it's possible it could be interrupted again, I think you should be able to get it off in the 6 recharges of the skill before it runs out (12 second duration w/ 20% enchant weapon and 35% from Blessed Aura). You almost don't need BR (I only have to BR Makosi at the beginning of the run, I'd probably have to do it if she died...but she doesn't :P ) if you make sure you activate bonetti's only last time before the finaly monster dies...
And for those wondering what triggers SB, here's a list (w/o -armor skills, i.e. makosi's build)
- Aatxes
- Graspings (when not using Flurry)
- Smites
- Obsidian Behemoths (about 1/10 hits won't trigger)
- Mindblades
- Wailing Lord
- Banished Dream Riders
- Spells from: Terrorweb Dryders, Coldfire Nights, Stalking Nights, Charged Blacknesses
Edit: For those of you posting other builds that aren't 55....the point of this build is to have the flexibility of a 55 as well as the added protection of having SB. A 55 has the ability to tank anything in UW w/o much difficulty (besides the 3rd spawn of mindblades if you're caught off-gaurd) compared to a 605 who will be killed pretty quick while trying to tank a large group in the Forgotten Vale (mainly the IW mesmers, but colds too if you aggro too many) or Spawning Pools, as many of the monsters there won't trigger SB, which is where being a 55 w/ Healing Breeze comes in handy..
