Lots of weaknesses, almost no strengths. Go mesmer secondary for monking in groups, until you're comfortable monking enough to use more interesting and unique builds (mo/n, mo/a and mo/e work, depending on your skill) mo/me is your absolute best choice, period.

I've seen Mo/W perform perfectly well as healers. They can use the defensive stances to evade being hit or increase armour, which is helpful as monks are often a target, and shouts can also help your allies. Whereas a warrior shouting will usually only help himself and the other warriors, a monk will be on the back line with the casters, so he can give everyone a "Watch yourself!" or a "Shields up".
Mo/Me is preferred though, for the energy management, and sometimes hex removal. A PvE pure healing build doesn't need to use its secondary, just take all the 5 energy heals and WoH, so Mo/W will be fine there. What you might have trouble with is the more energy heavy builds like boon prot or a bonder that wants to maintain more than 7 bonds.
But in Prophecies at least, you should be fine until you can reach the profession changer.

Yeah that's how I've been playing him, using those shouts and stuff to help the group. I find it pretty fun so far, and haven't had any energy problems yet, so we'll see how it goes.

Sounds a bit like a wannabe paragon... nothing wrong with that, but casting watch yourself for the entire group is what the paragon is gonna be about.
A monk isn't the most effective with shouts, but shields up and watch yourself can help your party, naturally.

Any advantages I can see playing a Mo/W are lost when you compare them to other /x's. Personally, I think a Mo/A is a better choice for the 'defensive' type of advantage the Warrior would give you.

I played nothing but a Mo/W in both Camps. and had no proplem with it and found the defence stances nice as well as the tactics line. When playing a good healer or even active protesct it is good when you use balance stance if you are being kncked down especially if go on being an infuser. When playing a bonder it not that much different than playing a 55 it depends on how much pips of regen you have.
There are those who think that the Mo/W is just for 55ing but it isn't it can be used in a variety of builds from healer, protector and yes smiter.I realy don't like it when Mo/W is stereotyped as a 55 Monk only as there are several builds for that.I played both camps used it in pvp infact it is what started my Monking career off i started with a Mo/W in the Halls of Heros back in beta.
If I was going to go boon then I would switch to Mesmer or blessed light but the Air Enchanment build I would use /W.I hope you enjoy playing Mo/W but we are al Monks here.
