PvE help (again)
Hey all
I just beat the Prophecies Campaign with my Ranger/Elementalist. It was my first time through, I had some rough patches, but pretty much came through okay once I realized I needed to specialize, not generalize. That is, everything went smooth after I started posting here.
My final skill set was the kindle arrow/imbue flame variety. Nothing too exotic.
I bought Factions, and jumped right in. First off, holy crap I'm leveling up fast. What is going on with experiance for quests? Anyways.
I find myself going right back to that Ranger build. I made a R/Rt, rebought the skills from the Skills vendor guy, and now I do kindle arrow and 'Pain' before I aggro.
I feel Ranger is the best class, don't have to go melee to do damage, but still can dish it out from the bow, great stances, solid interupt and the preps are fantastic.
But I'm getting sort of bored playing Ranger; I feel each PvE mission/quest is the same for the Ranger. Prep, attack, move to next group before aggro, repeat.
Anyone here play something other than Ranger? I figure we all play Rangers for the same reason (pretty much), so I figure if people posted what other builds they use in PvE, maybe I'd enjoy that, too. Hopefully.
My main fear is getting my butt handed to me in any other class due to low armor, or getting wildly bored out my mind just waiting for the adrenaline to full up with a warrior.
Or should I just go Me/A and run with it?

Not everybody plays ranger, although it is a very popular class. I'm sure most people have a ranger, and usually as a main character because they are so versatile and there are many builds using them. The classes I play the most are ranger and monk because they are the ones that change the most.
As a monk I can be a healer, a prot, a smiter, a bonder, a boon/prot, a BL monk, a DS heal spammer, or something else entirely. And I do change all the time just to keep things interesting.
As a ranger I can be a barrage/pet, a trapper, a beast master, a bunny thumper, a runner, an interrupter, or something else that I make up. Maybe you can try something else with your ranger rather than your current kindle arrow ranger.
Good luck with whatever class/build you choose.

Yes, Rangers are awesome.
I have W/R, R/Mo, N/Me, A/W, Mo/E, and Rit/N.
So, as you can see, I have every class (excluding Nightfall Characters) available.
Try trapping, beastmaster, Touch Ranger, etc. Don't just use the same old style, diversify yourself.
As an Assassin, sometimes I'll go A/Mo and be a backup healer. This allows me to join groups, not anger any healers, and gives me a sense of participation by healing (or use protection spells) to aid the team to victory.
Try doing different things, not just the same old style of play. You may be surprised on how much fun you can have with 1 character.

Wanna have big fun?
Take a beastmaster build into AB's... the only bow attacks I took were pin down and Maurauders shot and used it to slow the wammos that were coming after me. Enraged Lunge became a thing of beauty when MS had all the beastie skills recharging. +80's every 5 seconds and the wammos kept coming! That battle we got 3 wammos and 2 casters that never did figure out where the damage was coming from!
