Sunreach finally conquered! SOLO style
Finally got the sucker solo! Well kinda solo Not sure if I was the first or not but he's done for. But no dang shield dropped for me though. OK now for the build.
The Build
-Attributes-
Swords 14
Tactics 12
Strength 11
-Skills-
Dragon Slash {E}
Sun and Moon
Pure Strike
Galrath
Deadly Riposte
Dolyaks
Heal Sig
For Great Justice
-Weapons-
Victos Blade (primary weapon)
Shocking _____ sword of defense (used to beat down Sunreach’s crew at the beginning)
Longbow
Shield I use a -2 stance -3 hex shield. Don’t use a stance shield.
The way this build is played is the same as my Morostav Trail solo build found here http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3042259 . You will be using the NPC Kurz priest to heal you all around Morostav. *YOU WILL NEED MORE LUXON FACTION THEN KURZ FACTION TO DO THIS. To do this you will have too get the Priest just outside of your healing range and start taking dmg. Once you drop by about 100hp he will start to heal you. Once you see him start to move to heal you, run away from him so that he chases you to heal you. When fighting a group he will of course be stationary and just heal you. He will not be the target of enemies since he is neutral and WILL heal the enemy on rare occasions. He can be dragged all around Morostav. But 1 invincible NPC priest with unlimited energy is not enough to take down Sunreach…you will need 2 of them. The run has the possibility of netting you 8 greens though, including the uber expensive Sunreach’s Shelter.
Start out at Unwaking Waters. You will encounter a group of Afflicted. Kill the group first then use the Rit boss to help you drag the Priest away from the shrine to the top of the hill where Strongroot is at the bottom of. Once there don’t agro Strongroot into the Rit boss cause you will lose your green from the Rit that way. Kill the Rit then attack the Kirin in Strongroot’s group first. If you do not kill the Kirin first in ANY group you have a chance of dying. You will also be blind when fighting groups with Dragon Moss's. Once done with the cronies kill Strongroot then proceed SW but hugging the left wall. This will save you a fights. You will shortly be at a ravine, try not to agro the first patrol group and run to the group at the end of the ravine. Kill them…Wardens of the Season(Rit) first then whatever other order you chose.
Once you kill this group you will see a pond with an Elemental boss there. He also drops a green. Go into the pond and pull him with a longbow. Otherwise 3 wardens of the season will spawn to heal him making the fight take an eternity. Once pulled you can kill him…although it may take some time since he uses aura of restoration and spam’s Stoning at you. He also drops a green.
Once done with him proceed to the spot where he originally was and kill the Warden of the Season Spawns. This part is for incase you die. Head right…not left just yet out of the pond. Kill the Group there and then turn left and kill any group that may interfere with a run from the Resurrection Shrine to the pond. If you die you will be rezzed here unfortunately. Now head back into the pond and exit from the other side. After exiting the pond work your way to the entrance to Durheim Archives. DO NOT ENTER. Just get to the other rez shrine and pull that priest also. Also do not kill the Dragon Moss group in front of the shrine also yet, just kill the Kirin. You will use the rest to help you lure the other priest out. At this point I take off my Chest Plate to take more dmg from their attacks. You will need to do this in order to get both priests to follow you. Once you have them both drag them to the entrance to where Sunreach can be found. Put your clothes back on and kill the 2 patrols that spawn here.
Now for the hard part…Sunreach’s party is no walk in the park even with 2 NPC monks! *You should have been using your vamp sword (Victos) so far for everything. Now use your Shocking sword of Defense for the added armor at the beginning. Once you have the Rit and Geomancer killed switch back to Victos. Now for the fun part.
Pull them over to the priests and once there attack the Warden of the Seasons FIRST. If not you won’t be able to kill anything. Second, kill the Wardens of the Wind, they degen you with poison and bleeding. Third, kill the Wardens of Earth since they are the big dmg dealers. Forth Kill Wardens of the Spirit…they suck your energy. Now kill the warriors then finally Sunreach. If your lucky you will get a shield from him. I didn’t =(.
Now go and kill the necro boss perched on top of the hill next to Suncreach. Kill them in the same order…saving the boss till the end.
I killed all 5 in my first run and got 0 greens, but got 2 good gold weps from the run. Also got a ton of other weps that I salvaged for mods…lot’s of tanned hides drop here. Using the priests takes some getting used too but once you get the hang of it, it’s just like a hench that doesn’t die. Good luck all.
**This is by no means an easy and fast run. It took me about 50 minutes last night doing this. Would have been alot faster if it wasn't for somebody here constatly whispering me every minute. Guys feel free to whisper me in game but when I say I'm busy please be patient =)
***The Luxons currently have control of Durheim Archives. This will NOT work until Durheim is back in Kurz control. Both Durheim and Unwaking must be under Kurz control. You can try to take Sunreach on with just one priest but Sunreach and his crew will eventually out damage your healing.
****If you are going from 6 to 8 DO NOT hug the left wall. You may get trapped and be killed by the Earth Wardens and Necros. Instead take the lower road and pull your groups.

Sorry I didn't post earlier, but I'm not the greatest of posters. My friend and I dual farmed him with R/Mo and A/R in about 25 minutes and then later he soloed sunreach with just his ranger using bleeding and poison and dragging him back to the priest. You can get sunreach stuck against a wall where he wont attack and u can just keep bleed and poison on while interupting his healing sig. He did it several times in a row so it is no glitch. I'd have to get the exact build and attributes from him b4 i actually posted the build but the dual farming went very quick and was very simple. The assassin (me) used the bloody barrage build and the ranger used apply poison, and we just kept backing up and interupting his healing sig while continuosly. Sorry for such a horrible post and incomplete build if someone else has done this and wants to post a complete build feel free, otherwise ill try and re post one later

Thanks =). The thing about this is that it is not an easy run where any warrior can just go an do it. it takes time and some skill till you get the second priest. also greens don't always drop...i killed boss 1-5 and didn't get a single drop. hadn't been to morostav trail in over 2 weeks also. i don't mind that green drops are rare cause at least green prices won't plummet like the ones in Tyria did. although i really really want that shield.

2 man farming him is really really easy but your friend who soloed him...wow. I would like to see that since i have no idea how he could pull him all the way to the shrine. He normally breaks aggro if you pull to far like any other boss. also how did you seperate him from the mob? everytime i try to pull him his mob is always in tow.

Not exactly SOLO when you think about it, but innovative nonetheless...Too bad the shield probably won't go down too much in price, since this build actually requires some tactics and work. :P
Good job though.

yeah not really solo in the typical sense. but you do get to keep what they drop . There is no way to truely solo him without the help of a priest cause his group is far to tough. Mesmers shatter and drain, Rangers bleed and poison, Ele's keep churning earth on you and the warrior with Sunreach keep KD'ing you.

I can get to Sunreach, killing everything on the way solo except the Dragon Moss, but they can be avoided. I start from Durheim though...The thing that makes this tough as hell is you never know the full make up of the party until you get there. 2 Warden's of the Earth, 2 Mesmers, 2 Rit's...any way you slice it, that part is impossibly though. I can last a good 30 seconds when there is one mesmer in there.
I use a different build though:
Galdiators Defense
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Galrath
Silverwing
Shield Stance
Healing Signet
Sprint (usless frankly, but I always forget to take it out)
Sword at 15, Tactics at 16, leftovers in Strength.
If your country has favor, kneel at the statue by Durheim and get a free armor boost against elemental damage, get your +3 regen from the priest, and get extra HP and +% for favor too. The other rez shrines give you other boosts too, depending on the god. It'll cost you some cash, but it's worth it. You can also buy off DP as well.

yeah the drop rate for greens is just horrible. Still trying to get one of the 2 bows along the way and haven't been lucky enough yet. I have done the run about 13 times or so and still no shield either =(. One of these days i guess it will drop. good luck

In the past 10 days i tried the "solo" about 20 times, reached bloody sunreach and kill him 7 times...Each effort 80 min at least..Between each run i did something else, not only once did in the row.......No single drop..Why is this happening?? If it wasn't for that skin i would have retired already, but i want it so badly..Maybe in the next 20!! times i will be more lucky...

Yeah, don't bet on it. For example, I've killed Jacqui the Reaver well over 50 times with no drop. I've gotten 5 Reefclaw's Refuge in that time as well.

em...may it be that the update today fixed the "bug" that the priest follows you? i just tried it one more time, maybe i did a fault this time, bit imo i did it as every time before, and he didnt follow me...can somebody else confirm that? the update was horribly enough (elemental attunement), so i hope this was my fault^^
