Default IW + Scythe?

I was curious if anyone that has gotten their bonus pack has tried out this combo. In theory, since the scythe strikes up to 3 nearby foes, IW should do the same, so using IW with a Scythe should enable a sort of AoE IW to be enabled and thus allow up to triple damage to occur.

It works...tried it long ago during PvP weekend. Doesn't work too well in PvP or PvE.

PvP: Because people are too spread out to do damage on multiple targets.
PvE: Good...but you're probably gonna take a lot of damage and die...so only works in low level areas.

The build is not too good or too bad, because you get enchantment removal way too ez.

I was thinking this might work for a 55 or SB mesmer doing solo farming actually

that actualy sounds like it might work good, too badd they nerfed sand shards with daggers, that double strike and rapid miss from the daggers woulda done some tight farming aoe damage, but if you could get something working , i would try and combine Me/D or D/Me, and combine IW + Sand Shards with a scythe, i think it might be effective

but yea pvp wise, the one handed weapon speed + flurry, with the offhand beats the scythe, unless your killing/farming people that bunch up in ra :P

It's already been tested that IW doesn't trigger Sand Shard.

yea, i can see it work for farming. not expecting miracles in pvp tho. i see them scythe mes already in randoms- it's simply not worthwhile. but pve is def a consideration. i betcha they will come up with good builds that utilize it. seems like a viable farming thing and finally making iw more usable. (it's fun but not usable really)

Yeah, the IW mesmer relies on attack speed, and although you may be able to attack everyone at your adjacent, you just simply wont kill your target fast enough.

It's the new Mesmer/Monk UW solo farm. Stay tuned

(I call copyright on modding my build for it, before sneaky peoples take it!)

IW
SV
Ess bond
Baltha Spirit
Ele Resist
Power Drain/Return
Spirit Bond
Protective Spirit

Probably going to lose a bit of Terrorweb/Coldfire slaying power, but speed otherwise is up..

I would suggest taking off your shirt (no, I'm not a pervert, but it will help you take more dmg ) and dropping Ele Resistance for another interupt or AV. With a visage up, Graspings won't be able to use Flurry, so they should trigger SB without any problems. If you take Aatxes at the same time, there should be no problem with getting enough healing.

Point taken, but neither are needed. I'll see what I can do.

I do, however, like my shirt.

I guess I missed something - what is this scythe? A Collectors Edition weapon or something?

Dervish weapon from Guild Wars: Nightfall. Currently can only be gotten from the preorder.

In AB it works well. Since many people clump together and are too stupid to realise that a mesmer is slashing them with a scythe.
