Spell Shield - Enchantment Spell. For 5...17 seconds, while you are casting spells, you cannot be the target of spells. When Spell Shield ends, all of your skills are disabled for 10...6 seconds.
Rend Enchantments - Spell. Target foe loses 5...8 Enchantments. For each Monk Enchantment removed, you take 55...31 damage.
Guess if I read them correctly, as long as you're spamming your enchants you should be fine...

and so long as you can cast both of your enchants right before Spell Shield ends. It might work, but it might also be more of a pain that it's worth. Try it out, though, and let us know how it goes.

That's not how it works. As long as you are casting something, you cannot be the target of spells. That means, if a NM pops up and starts rending you and you were not casting anything when he started rending, the spell will succeed, and gg you. Therefore no, it wouldn't work. Spell Shield is only good against mesmer interrupts (like Migraine + Interrupts). Spell Shields sucks in HA tho.

Actually, that will work, conditionally. Targeting is checked as the spell is initiated and then again just before it completes. So, if you are casting something as the Rend Enchantments finishes your enchantments will be safe.
Unfortunately, you've got some other issues to deal with. Since you aren't technically interrupting the spell, it doesn't need to recharge, and so it's still available for the Dying Nightmare to cast essentially anytime thereafter (they usually wait for Spell Shield to drop though). Also, you're going to need some pretty exquisite timing to break Rend Enchantments with a 1/4 second spell, e.g., Protective Spirit or Spirit Bond (I'm assuming your thinking of using a Monk primary here). Anything taking longer than 1/4 of a second is going to be Savage Slash bait, unless you bring something like Mantra of Resolve. Finally, the skill disabling side effect of Spell Shield can be pretty nasty. Even only six seconds of that can be hard to deal with.
All in all, your much better off using Spell Breaker, unless you really want that elite slot for Shield of Judgment or such.

Nechtan above is right, plus if you want mantra of resolve you'll need Mo/Me, and with Mo/Me you might as well take Power Return + Power Drain (in case of double nm spawn), which is much more efficient than Spell Shield+Resolve, and much less conditional
