Surely Jinkas and I are not the only ones to encounter endless mend condition from the smites? Occasionally one dies, usually in a large grp, but once down to 4, its a stalemate........ -.-

I'm guessing the addition of Flame Burst will help since then you should be able to do more damage than the smites can heal. Frankly, though, I have not and probably will not try it since I got sick of being dazed so often by the Graspings. I enjoy the Rit VwK build much more, so I'll probably stick with that one.

could try guardian in that last slot. Would decrease how many times youre interupted by like 50% and since everyones complainin bout it i think it should help, havent tried this build yet so its just an idea.

Lowest AL armor possible, without chest armor. Typically AL15 armor from Shing Jea monastary, unless u kept ur starter armor. Event headdress is useful, eg dragon mask, they have AL 0.
Definitely Sup Prot rune, and maybe Sup Divine or Smite.
Higher HP means retribution does more damage, but hp in the region of 300 helps u to survive groups of grasping darknesses that do not always trigger SB.
Personally, I made it to the smites, but had problem finishing them off due to the non-stop spamming of mend condition by the smites. Jinkas suggested adding flame burst, perhaps replacing retribution, which doesnt seem to add a lot of damage output with 300+ hp anyway.

This is crazy...last night i finaly got SoJ for my monk and tried to Solo the UW obviously i didnt work so i took Spell Breaker instead and some more smiting spells but then i could tank all night and i wasnt doing enough dmg and it was getting late so i layed in bed and started reading skills in the strat guides and i saw aftershock and went hmmmm I'll try that tomorrow after work. I am now here at work and out of curiousity checked out the forums and bam there is this. Flame burst looks like it would work better along with burning speed.
I use the following for my 600;
Protective spirit
Spirit bond
balt spirit
blessed aura
retribution(which doesnt seem to do much i think ill trade for
burning speed)
Spell Breaker
Bonettis defense(which i never needed so ill trade for flame burst)
symbol of wrath(might trade this for essence bond)
BTW i can do either 55 or 600hp(I prefer the 600hp simply because to me its easier to mantain enchants and the more that attack me the merrier!) so if any has questions about either i am online almost everyday just PM me and i can show you.

=/ im confused, you said you should keep your hp at ~300 because of the low damage of the grasping but you also said you should have as much hp as possible if you have the starter armor :S ????
So what armor do u use? which peices do u have equipped and whats the al level of each peice?

my own setup is as follows:
with this setup i killed 2 groups of graspings/aatxes, but the 3rd group of graspings managed to interrupt my prot spirit and i died
if anyone has the same/similar setup, can they tell me if this works with smites?

I played around with this build a bit yesterday and it can indeed clear the Aatxes and Graspings (although not near as reliably as a monk that has a teammate cast Visage on them), but you really have to understand enemy A.I. to know when to cast, where/when to move, etc. I was called off by a guildie before I got to the smites, but I did do a duo run later on that day and brought a similar build to make things go by faster. I brought Burning Speed, but no retribution as my modification. My guildmate died at one point when helping me pull some extra smites and I solo tanked a big group and was actually able to kill off a few smites without my guildie using only Burning Speed as my damage ability,but it was very slow and I eventually got to a standoff when the number of smites I was tanking got small. From this experience, I have a feeling that even with Retribution, killing the smites is quite a slow process. I'll have to see how quickly it can go when I get to try the solo build again at a later time.

It definitely works with smites - tried and tested here. Just don't use burning speed as they use mend condition and heal eachother too much. Spam flame burst and let Retribution do its job. As mentioned before, grapsings are the hardest with their interrupts and dazing.
Edit: Drop boon for retribution. The dmg really adds up.

I like this build better for FoW i feel like I have less risk when i go there because there is not as much daze and interupts...
but i need help the warriors have healing sig which makes it all take soo long.
any ideas beyond flame burst?

the more I use this build the more I realize that it is simply too unreliable to be worth using. Even when spacing out spell casting, Skull Crack will still catch you from time to time. I'm stickin with Monk/SS duo runs. I've spent too much money trying this build as it is.
*edit* flame burst may help against smites, but it makes you much more prone to interupts against graspings since it's one more spell you have to cast
