I farm mostly for the fun of it (except UW duo runs since they support my 15k armor addiction) other than that its relaxed and much more fun than other games as you dont rly need to grind the same place over and over again. 1 minute i feel like a SF 5 man farm, than i wanna solo FoW or kill a boss It's pretty satisfying to see a high level enemy die surrounded by all his high level mobs. I don't even care about greens that much anymore selling stuff takes to much time if i want money ill sell my ectos or shards
And of course it pretty cool if you design a new build that can solo a place or boss

I guess there is 2 sides to farming.

One is repetetive slaughter of groups or single enemies for money , green or just because (bottom line it is for profit)

Then there is the other farming .....

The people going for a title like GMC do as much grinding as a farmen going after ssskai's sword. And I know people that live in PvP/GvG just to get a title. This is also farming in my eyes. This hoever is farming for "status" (for lack of a better word).

Having finished both prophcies and faction now about 8+ times with every proffession in the game just about(still working on my sin en mes). Farming for a goal is all that is left at this point and looking at the Nightfall event is is actually going to be a bigger part of Guild Wars I think.

So in short farming is to get what you want , be it money , items, "status" or a quest/mission. Sometimes it's boring if you HAVE to do it sometimes it's fun because you get what you want out of it.

So does Racthoh

Anyway, I farm because it's pointlessly boring (I farm trolls cos its easy), and that makes it easy for me to concentrate on a song that I'm listening to. It's like - If I intend to listen to music I may as well make some GW cash doing it.

MINDLESS?! Are you kidding me? It takes a lot of wits to make up these farming builds. Some builds require your constant attention, and u cant relax for a second.
You obviously know NOTHING about farming.
