Hello!

For the quest The Captured Son, you need a few things:

- The right level
- The right party members
- The finesse
- Good looks, nice and clean.
- Balls of Steel(tm)

If you have that, you can triumph. Party members of around level 14-16, 2 healers, 2 tanks should be enough. That leaves 2 spots for other retards you can find along the way.

Clean up EVERYTHING, behind, on the sides, everywhere. When you pull a pack of mobs, other packs will join and swarm, making it impossible to do anything. This is where "The Finesse" comes in line:

What you need to do is hit and run. Hit a bit, then retreat, hit, retreat, hit, retreat. Get the picture? Eventually, the one you are hitting will be too far from his pack. By the time they run to him, you kill the mob, and proceed for the rest. If done properly, you should only have 1 pack, not the whole friggin camp on you.

This is why you need to "clean" everything. The kappas, the turtles, the afflicted and the nagas are all there to jump you when you try to pull a single pack of mobs from the camp. You need lots of space to do this, but that's way life is, can't have everything.

If you happen to have "running pussies" in your group, ditch them and take real people. What i mean by "running pussies" is people who try to avoid everything BUT the quest target, generally aggroing five thousand mobs in the process and killing themselves. They, of course, blame the monk for not healing and leave the game, but not without saying a last heart-breaking insult: "u r all noobs and u suk".

Fact: by cleaning up everything, it may take a bit more time, but it's safer for everyone and there's always the chance for nice loots! Plus, if nobody dies and the quest is done, it's still FASTER then 2 people dying, 1 who ragequits, having to go back in town and find someone else, etc etc.

This not only applies to The Captured Son, it applies to every quest/mob in the game. I'm a monk/mesmer, level 20, and i solo'ed bosses this way. It may take time and it may not be the "best" way, but it's the safest one i've found and the most profitable way, too.

If you have the right tools for the job (levels and classes) and you know how to work (pulling finesse and securing area by cleaning the trash), "work" should be much more enjoyable

If you need help with everything, send me a tell in-game: Erydan Ouragan.

It'll be my endless pleasure to help.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.... Your way sounds very "profitable" as well as safe.. I did run cap son this morning with a "real group" ( not henchies) for the first time. It seems my groupies knew what they were doing, mostly, because that is how we succeeded. I couldn't honestly say we "cleaned up" but we did get to the end and we did kill all the "bad dudes".. It was funny because when we got there I thought we were supposed to save the son and bring him back to his mom... lol... then I realized that all you got was the letter... lol.. which is fine because I took it back and got my "well deserved" reward. ( i attempted this quest about 6 or 7 times w/henchies) I would like to add you to my friends list and also run thru cap son again.. I really would like to have a chance at getting all that good loot.... I am going on line shortly, I will add your name to my list and when we get on line together we can meet up and hopefully run this quest again.. I am also very interested in learning about running the other quests and what is the best and most profitable way to achieve that.

Thanks
Sonia

Asking what state ur in anyways, getting a team and doing captured son is a waste of time and money, like running to droks, to much time. Because factions is kind of new, there is very little farming methods or there is barely any places to farm. I farm Jade Brotherhood, I make about 7-12k an hour and by the time that hour is up, this message says The more you kill the same enemy the less rare drops it drops, or something like that anyways, if you want to make money, get prophicies until people discover a money making spot in factions.

I found Erydans Reply quite helpful. I don't need "balls of steel".. I AM a woman. I am a fairly new gamer, on top of that this game is practically brand new, so when help is needed, I ask. What is it about his post that "disturbs" you? I found it quite pleasant and informative. Comparing it to some of the ppl I have actually spoken to in the game, Erydan was probably the most helpful and kind. I do appreciate that.

Fluffy, I don't mind running Factions at all. It is a good way for me to "learn the ropes" if you will. As I said before, I am a fairly new gamer, I am learning as I go.. Thank you for your input though. At the moment I am having fun with the game. ( its helping me get some personal stuff off my mind). It also allows my husband and I to spend more time together, unlike some married couples we actually LOVE spending time together.. lol He is quite pleased with me playing the game with him and how much interest I take in learning more about it. Well I don't actually play with him at the moment, we only have one computer. Soon we will have two and WILL be playing together, along with my son and Erydan as well. I look forward to getting a really cool group together and conquering these quests.. Making some money, yeah thats cool to.. I have to admit, one of my favorite parts of the game are the weapons.. I LOVE to use new, more powerful weapons..

thanks for you reply

Did you still need help on the Captured Son? What class are you?

I soloed (without henchmen) the Captured Son quest with my ritualist, so I'm pretty sure I can help you do it with your character...

I actually managed to finish cap son with a group of half real ppl and half henchies.. Now, however, I am having problems with captain quainigs( I think thats how you spell it) last stand.. I get to the end then I keep getting killed, I cant kill anymore of the bad dudes.. I think it is part of The Emperors Blade.. If you can help I would be grateful lol

thanks

I just did that quest today with henchies after a couple tries. The way I finally beat it was to go to Ran Musu Gardens (yes, it's a hike) and get level 10 henchies (forget the level 6 ones in Tsumei Village - they are useless). On the way down to where the quest takes place there are various groups of guards that are fighting (some are off to the side - listen for the sound of clashing swords) Be sure to help them and they will join you. Once you have a full crew, do your best to kill each mob quickly. Move in close so your guards do not hang back running around without fighting. The way I handled the last set of mobs was to first go down the south east side, as far east as possible or you will trigger more mobs to jump down. Try to draw the group to you. Once you have dispatched them, go all the way around the hill counter-clockwise, taking out the mobs as you go, then attack the group from the south west side. Be sure to always give your guards time to heal before engaging the next group. Again, push into the group and focus your attack on specific targets. At some point additional mobs may drop - not much you can do about it except take them on. The one problem with this quest is you really cannot draw the mobs, as the guards will not want to retreat, and if you pull back the guards will be too outnumbered, so you have little choice once you commit to a battle other than to see it through. The last part is a bit tough in that respect because the guards will aggro multiple mobs without taking time to heal (okay, they are not all that bright, but smarter than many real people). I did go for the boss when there were a few other bad guys left, to ensure I killed him, but the quest did not finish till all the bad guys in that area were dead. The quest is tricky, but if you pick off the sides first and have enough guards for the last few groups, it can be done. My AV was a lvl 13 monk, and I brought a healer, so all I had were a warrior henchie and ranger henchie to deal damage. My healer did die at one point, but luckily the situation allowed me to quickly rez her. I really didn't need to do much except target the groups I wanted attacked, and ensure I lived. Needless to say, the guards were critical to the battle. For one thing, they take a lot of the aggro - my hench were barely touched, aside from my healer. I had about 5 guards left after the battle, so there is ample firepower if you go slowly and carefully pick as much off as possible. Hope this helps

To do the Captain's quest real easily, bring the patrolling gaurds with you. I normally exit from the village and head towards where the Captain is. You will see groups of 3 gaurds, who fight the patrolling mobs. If you get close to them, i actually help them in thier fight to speed things along, they will follow you. I believe by the time you get to the bridge, you should have 9-12 extra guards and a guard captain following you. And they do fight for you. Take on the mobs by Captain Quiang (sp). You can pull those mobs 1 at a time to play it safe, but i dont think i needed to.
